No chance mate, I have it on very good authority (ie a bloke off the internet who claims to know stuff) that in two years time robots will be driving all lorries, ergo no need for tachographs and different modes.

Yeh I heard that also, so I’m signing up for a course in refrigeration.
I’ve heard it’s the new Rock & Roll and the way forward.

You asked a very similar question in your only other post 2 years ago did you not get the answer then !!
thank you for your reply,
Im sorry I didnt get back to to you 2 years ago !
in the post 2 years ago you answered my question and really confirmed that POA is not BREAK,
thanks for that
the other night a Friend from work was trying to tell me on a digi tacho POA counts like break, in as far as you cant have 3 x 15 mins POA,
as the digi tacho reverts back to 15 min in the display, (im analog)
i find it very challengeing to find written infomation that confirms my questions,
therefore im very grateful for this website along with expert advice,

POA only counts as break if you are running multi-manned (i.e. when the second driver joins the vehicle within the first hour). Even then, in order to count as a Break, it is still subject to the same 15+30 minute rules as a regular Break. Digital tachos don’t fully comply with this when recording POA so drivers need to keep an eye on it for themselves. e.g. if you record 45 minutes of POA on a digital tacho it will reset thedriving time even if you are single-manned.
I always thought poa does not count as a break ie "free to dispose of your time " as against being " available to work " also isn’t poa a known delay in advance

You don’t have to be “free to dispose of your time” when on Break - although you do if on Daily (or weekly) Rest.
Strictly speaking, you should indeed be aware of the likely duration of any POA in advance - but if your card is in the 2nd slot it will record POA all the time that the wheels are turning and there’s nothing you can do about it (other than make a written manual entry after the event).
