With some six weeks to before we are pushed off of the cliff, the gubernment have finally taken some decisive action, to help us hauliers to prepare for it… by installing a porta cabin in the services, presumably to be staffed by two post graduates who may hand out leaflets imploring us to “prepare for the promised land”.
Hauliers will have just three weeks to familiarise themselves with the new regulations for transporting goods into the EU from 1 January, it was revealed today.
The so-called “Hauliers’ handbook” had been due to be released at the beginning of November but will now be unveiled in full on 7 December.
The portacabin people don’t know what is going to happen or what will required until 07 12 so no wonder they are shut.
I have an increasing feeling that before the 31st of December, we will see a penitent Boris, announcing with as great gravitas as he can muster, that due to circumstances (insert long list of excuses), the transition period is to be extended, and that as a consequence of his failure to deliver,he is resigning …
Brexit can not now be completed on time, and in any way shape or form workable. With the economy already on the brink, because of the lockdown restrictions, any added complications because the cross channel traffic/trade being massively interrupted, will be a death knell.
And Boris wants out of the job. You can see he’s out of his depth, he’s completely worn out (after only a year in the job), he cant bluster and joke his way out of this job, and in the present leader of the opposition, he has an opponent who outwits him at every turn… He’s desperate for a way out, which he might spin as “honourable”, as he only ever wanted the job for the title and achieving it. He’s a toddler, who sees something, wants it, and screams and screams (or lies and backstabs…) until he has it, and then chucks it aside and wants something else. He is on record for compkaing that he cant live on a PM’s salary.
Not sure what a portacabin in service’s will achieve.
There frequented by drivers not management. So why there telling us drivers the rules God knows.
Way I see it we drive from a to b. It’s upto the office to sort out the right paperwork and documents. Not my job to

In the world of international transport the driver needs to have as much knowledge as possible. As the person at the sharp, pointy end of a check-point or control i am the person who is going to be messed about and heaven forbid miss my dinner.
I have to information better and more current than my office -
But whether or not the queue will be orderly is another matter.
I wonder how many drivers will forsake their 45 minutes break time to queue up and get what ever necessary bits of paperwork, stamps… christ only knows what to exit the UK.
What used to be a good job driving ‘on t’continent’ has been wrecked by mobile phones, satellite tracking, illegal immigrants, parking in ■■■■■ holes (quite literally) and now this.

Enter Kent without correct documents and it’s the driver responsible.

I hadn’t thought of that… if you go and get this information whilst you’re on a 45 tacho break, you’re technically breaking the rules… as as Strensham is a favourite haunt of the Vostapo anyway, I wonder if they’ll go and pull drivers as soon as they pull off, to check…
Oh, by the way, this is not a 'clearing station/office’s, but just an information site, to tell you… what exactly, no one knows yet…

Haven’t seen that, but presumably that is HM Gov saying 3 weeks leeway? Have any other Govs said the same? Will Son Of Pinocchio say “I’ll let you off this time…”

No mention of leeway (officially sanctioned or not). It’s simply that full details of the post-Brexit requirements won’t be published in the form of the “hauliers’ handbook” until 3 weeks before we leave.

I have though for a while they wouldn’t actually go through with it.
As we have already left the EU, if they haven’t struck a trade deal by December 31st at the end of the one year transition period due to end on December 31st means we’ll end up with a no deal hard Brexit
If we leave with no deal the paperwork is nothing new, it’ll be the same as it is for the >50% of exports from the UK that don’t go to the EU and that the UK has required from non-EU imports for the last 30 years.
What you’re all saying is that you’re worse drivers than the flip flops who come to where I’m at to pick up loads going for export. Not only do most of them not speak a single word of english and we even had a Russian in last week, they can stamp and sign all the notes in seconds.
If they can manage to figure out the paperwork and make sure it’s right in a country they don’t live in or speak the language why can’t you work it out?

Because from January 1st all the paperwork is changing, at the present time, philpflopski is still using a CMR, so yes he just signs or stamps at the bottom and in da middle. I go now Goodbye mornings.
And if I was you I’d be worried,as wee jimmy krankee will be demanding paperwork for entering her Country, so you’ll need to stop at Gretna Border Control every night.
And it’s been covered countless times, but,
.
The software system isn’t up and running yet. (The success rate for Gov IT systems isn’t inspiring)
HM customs agents aren’t yet up to strength.
Sufficient civilian clerks to input the data aren’t yet there.
.
All the above costs time and money, too.
.
But the wagon load of gold, pulled by a team of unicorns, is just waiting beyond the next rainbow.
