Please don't deliver here

ICI Hillhouse was a massive chemical works, it secretly made mustard gas during world war 2. the fact that it was made isn’t the problem.
the problem is. they will be building houses on the site very soon. We will be expected to deliver there. I expect they will be pile driving. if they do they will puncture the cannisters, then we will be in the [zb].
I know about this, because my dad told me about it before he died, he knew they would try to build on the land at some time in the future. he helped bury the stuff. all the men who were involved had to sign a home office contract. if they spoke about what they did, they would go to prison. They are all dead now.
the project was stopped by our MP and some other polititions, but it has had the go ahead from a higher authority.

so i won’t be delivering there, and i hope you don’t.

there is a german brand supermarket in Derbyshire that is built on a registered asbestos dump :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

i know this as i used to work for the company that had the yard before the supermarket was built there, and it was that company that had it as registered dumping ground :open_mouth:

I used to take PVC base there, occasionally from Hoechst Gendorf, where according to some of the guys who worked there, they used to make Zyklon B, better update the will!

RioTinto acquired the Capper Pass smelter in 1967, and produced between 100,000 and 120,000 tonnes per year, almost 15% of the West’s tin. Many of the by-products were discharged into the Humber River and the East Yorkshire air, including radioactive, carcinogenic and other toxic substances, such as arsenic. The Capper Pass Tin Smelter was closed in 1991, “decommissioned” meaning cleaned-up and deconstructed in 1995, and then sold by RioTinto to a “third party”. The site however still remains contaminated.

In 1971 lead and arsenic was found in cattle that grazed near Capper Pass. Livestock and crops had to be condemned on several farms. The local Medical Officer wrote that “the situation … may cause public alarm should the facts become generally known”.

It happens all over Phil

This the old Chlorine works in Thornton?

yes but as time moves on, ways of dealing with stuff like this get ever more sophisticated - one of my customers specialises in this work and i’ve been on a few sites - the last one was the old ICI/Zeneca/Syngenta site at Yalding that produced lots of nasty stuff for 100+ years.

very clever bods these people, and you know that they won’t just wade in, bursting any old canister they find with their ultrasound etc, now will they?

Err, actually, yes as profit is the only thing that counts today.

I saw a couple of ■■■■■■ the other day, know they have been conning folk on Tarmacking and PVC cladding etc for a few years. My heart sank when I saw their van sign-written up with " Asbestos removal and disposal" all over it. I can guarantee it will be dumped in a ditch or lay-by.

i doubt they will risk getting anyone in as it may open a very large problem. there is no one alive who knows where this stuff is buried.
it has also been officially denied.
everyone on the same plant as my dad died of the same problem. i doubt it’s a coincidence.
they deal with profit before anything else here.

From what i read that site is a known toxic/waste dump with the stuff buried in caverns. Like jj says, they’ll know where they’re pildriving, won’t they?!!

the salt mines are the other side of the wyre. that’s where the caverns are.

there are all kinds of nasty products buried at the hillhouse site. they know all about them, they are very well documented.
my dad had a very misguided loyalty to ICI, so did some of his work mates. i reckon that’s why he was chosen to hide the mustard gas, officially it isn’t there.
