Please could you help me work a night heater

8 legger:
I have an Eberspacher night heater in my wagon but don’t know how to use is as I’m pretty ■■■■ useless and would appreciate any help I can get. I’ve been trying to find a user manual on the internet and failed at that as well. Thanks.

Here’s a pic

if the glowplug was out then thats why it was,nt firing. btw if its any use to you , you can program that heater to come on in 3 separate times in any one day using the p button and the left and right arrows. you can also set it to stay on for periods between 20 mins and 120 mins using the arrows, each time the program switches it on, hope that helps

The information you need is on page 20 and 21 and page 17 tells you how to reset on the bottom right of the page. Hope this helps.

Professional thermal management for every vehicle

Great thanks for your help

Eberspaecher have a pump near or on the Tank which makes klick-klick-klick till Heater switches off.
Eberspaecher, some of it,have on the heater Body a Rubber Ball you push if its not commin up.If you start it three Times with pressing short the Rubber before switching on and it doesnt run see the Technician.Holding down the Rubber is no solution. Its a Fuse when it runs hot to switch off.So just push the Fuse and it shall run.If it runs and goes off after heating for 5,10 15 min or longer check that nothing closes the Airflow,if Working Gloves or whatever.
You also need Diesel in the Tank.If you run them to low you have no heating.
You also have a small Filter before the Pump, and a thinny Pipe which could be harmed and it pulls Air.
And
Eberspaecher is differend from Webast, but filter,Pump and Sparks still could match

Try swearing at it!

My normal reply to night heater problems is pubic hair and errant socks. But as mentioned the photo shows it working.

ADR lorries can not have a working timer.

I’ve got a complete working night heater for sale 8legger

there is also a filter at one end of the night heater , make sure that this is clean as this also make’s the unit over heat and shut down, it tends to push the reset button out on the heater unit if ignored.

I’ve got this type of timer fitted now my question is, is it possible to switch it on so it stays on rather than cutting out after 120mins■■?

i was told that this can be done by the Eberspacher dealers or by the people that fit them, but i’m not 100% sure on this

If you are in the truck, turn the key on one click that disables the cut out, if it’s using the timer it is possible as i have done mine to stay on indefinatly, don’t ask me how to do it though as I did mine by mistake  lol

remind me never to take one apart

Night heaters are used by southern softies. Not us hard northern folk.

Here’s a link to a site that might be able to help you. If you stick Eberspacher into google you’ll find loads of sites including Eberspachers own web site. eberspacher.com/support-and- … s/faq.html

On my earlier eberspachers there was a reset button, you’ll have to ask at an auto-electricians or truck dealer workshop to find out where it is because I can’t remember. I know Eberspacher told me to reset it one morning when I rang them. It was a long time ago but they were helpful then so may still be now.

If its like a Merc then the ignition key needs to be on the first ‘‘accessories’’ position before turning the heater on. Turning the key off or removing the key makes it reverts to a 120 minute countdown, but if the key is put back in and returned to position 1 before the 120 minutes is up, it reverts to constantly on :grimacing:

And after all the helpful answers, no one has cottoned on to the fact that half the insides have been nicked…glow plug etc…so no matter what you say…it aint gonna work is it…he will tell ya when hes been to the knackers yard and sourced some bits…lets hope its summer time when he reports back.

But Talking of heaters, why dont manufacturers fit a Y piece, and get some of that there heat, onto t`other side ot cab. I remember an old strato i had once had the heater outlet in the centre of the cab, just under the bed, so it warmed all of the cab.

Yes, my 105 is like that, the ones in the footwell burn the back of your feet, didn’t notice the tiny outlet in front of the bunk till it nearly melted my sandwich box

Mercs blow it out of all orifices :open_mouth:

Squiddy:
How do they work anyway? Is it all electric or does it burn fuel?

They burn diesel pumped at high pressure through an atomizing jet.
A spark plug (not glow plug) is used at high voltage to ignite the fuel.
There is a fan to blow the warm air out.

They work on a heat exchanger principle.i.e. There are 2 seperate chambers, one where the flame is. Fresh air is drawn in, used in the burn and exhausted to outside and one where only air circulates. So technically if the fuel fails to burn efficiently or at all you can’t get fumes blown into the cab.

Principle is much the same, although on a smaller scale, as an oil fired central heating boiler - although that is heating water instead of air.
