Good afternoon all
I know this must seem like a stupid question but I just wondered if someone could confirm if this example of a driving day was correct?
Start driving at 06:00 for 1 hour
15 minutes break
2 hours driving
30 minutes break
4.5 hours driving
45 minutes break
Driving time left 1.5 hours for a 9 hour driving day 2.5 obviously for a 10 hour driving day.
Kind Regards

Yes that’s correct and perfectly legal
That’s a nice easy day too!
I couldn’t have got away with this 10 years ago as it was a rolling period but now the 4.5hour counter starts again after your 30minutes break completing your first 45minutes breaks, so no problem with that.
Thank you very much for clearing that up.
Would I’d be right in thinking that a couple of years ago the driving time you never used was lost and couldn’t be carried to use later in the day.

Not too sure about that. I was always under the impression that you had 9/10 hours driving time per day regardless of when you took your break. Eg, drive 1 hour, 45 mins break, drive 4.5hours, 45 min break, then drive a further 4.5 hours (assuming you have a 10 available)

Hiya i don’t know where you get this time lost.you might run out of time if your doing vast amount of unloading.
like removals or simular. i once did a delivery near Chatam. it was cement type product taken up 5 floors in a lift.
you could only take 6 bags at a time plus a workman. well 23 tons took from 8.30am until 1830 to unload
that did’nt help the working day much…mind you there was another way round the problem which some of you
would be unsure to do…not in my book

3300John Sorry referring to unused driving time as lost time as Dipper_Dave said it was a rolling period.

if you are referring to the driving time per day, you would be incorrect, if you are meaning example
4 hours drive
45 break
4 hours drive
you would then be able to do 1 hour drive after another 45 break, that has always been the case
Thank you all for your comments this afternoon really been helpful.
Stay Safe out there.
Urban myth that driving time was lost.
As said you didn’t lose the driving time from the daily limit.
