Please, ALWAYS check the trailer brake when hooking up to a trailer.
If you don’t, you’re a Numpty, it’s your fault, don’t cry & try to blame anyone else.

+1
where I’m working we cant load trailers if we’re hooked to a trailer. so before I start loading my trl I do a quick walk round for new damage that I can report to the TO and check the Park Break before getting in the back.

Always apply the park brake,if you don,t your omission could seriously injure the next driver. This happened to me at capper and co talbot green ,I was shunting on a night shift ,the afternoon shift driver mr phil shelbourne ,from porth in the Rhondda ,failed to apply the park brake, when I connected the red air line the whole combination pinced ,pushing me onto the cable housing fracturing my ribs,I then cut my leg as I fell backwards.
Capper/AF blakemore have lost the CCTV ,my training records and their managers have lied on oath in county court in Bridgend ,11 sept 2013.
Never mind you reap what you sow in life.i didn’t think my fellow work mate would lie but he did .my conscious is clear.
To Dieseldoforme…it was me who dropped trailer 192…and i definitely put the trailer brake on, i remember using the ratchet, and when it reached the limit, the cable snapped, but it was still ON, so it isnt my fault if it rolled downhill and crushed the poor transport manager who happened to be in the yard, checking on drivers who fail to put trailer brakes on.

Did you check the trailer brake was on before you started to hook up……?

I always apply the handbrake. It is the responsibility of the driver coupling up to CHECK the KNOB!
Especially if split coupling which is probably the only way anything serious could happen unless the driver doesn’t couple up properly.
A solo trailer will never start rolling whilst uncoupled
Sorry but i`ve had a solo trailer move when I tried to get under it,rolled back about 6 feet.
if you connect ya air line it will
Old trailers without spring brakes will move with no airlines if you haven’t put the handbrake on.

You’re a liar Truckyboy. CCTV shows that you deliberately lined
the trailer up in the direction of our noble Transport Manager. Why
else would you have dropped the trailer at 45 degrees to every
other trailer in the yard ? And why would you return to the rear
of the trailer shortly before it started to career down the yard ?
I believe that you pushed trailer 192 Truckyboy.
So money will be deducted from your wages as a contribution for
the cremation next Thursday. That’s the second TM that has gone
up in smoke in just as many weeks. We will not tolerate anymore
TM bashing and general horse play on these premises.

My CPC was a complete waste of time. I did the same course five times!
Got paid nine hours each time however, so can’t complain.
Can you have a quick word with your superiority complex and please ask it to stop compelling you to make these sanctimonious, holier-than-thou posts. You’re a driver the same as everybody else, no more.

Please do not feed the troll.
You must be given written procedures,by law I didn’t receive any at capper rdc talbot green,(but hey ho they just buy the judge).money talks.
The boss John capper openly called me a liar in email,so I offered them to lie detector test me,they failed to take up the offer!
There are systematic failings here,no instructions,no training,no information, and no supervision. The head of safety David Webster says we only show employees risk assessments if they ask to see them! FFS,shape up…
Olog Hai:

I’m not convinced.
I think this is probably closer to the truth.
I very seldom apply the park button. I really think its pointless. And if all you lads that nearly got killed or maimed or crushed or whatever actually thought about what you were doing and connected the yellow line, befor the red one then the truck would put on the brakes for you.
Unless of course you left off the hand brake and them its far from my fault but even if you did you would realise that with no air in the yellow line, something’s wrong. I would have a look at your coupling procedure, not the book version, the one tht actually makes sense.
Mad how fellas give out about not pulling the park button but admit to forgetting the tug test. Is lookin at the coupling jaws with your own eyes gone out of fashion or something?

come on fella, do you really need your nose wiping? you know it’s up to you to check the brake.
you’re saying they didn’t do things by the book, but neither did you

Wherever you like, but nowhere near the trailer

I’d rather ■■■■ a shutter off than cause somebody to be crushed by a runaway trailer.
As for the shutters, it’s their job. If they don’t like it than its tough.
