furniture polish WILL remove it
What’s the best thing to remove it, I’ve got some left on my brand new mobile phone and I can’t get it off. I’ve used petrol and turps in the past but don’t want to damage or mark the phone.
Tried hot water and washing up liquid on a damp cloth but that hasn’t removed it either.
Cheers.
rob, youve got to soak the phone in warm soapy water overnight. this will soon sort it out, any probs then give us a bell tomorrow.
Lighter fluid is supposed to remove the stuff. (Not lit though)
Rob. If the residue is on a detachable part of the cover take it off and soak in warm water with washing up liquid in. If the residue is on another, fixed part of the cover try methelated or surgical spirit, sparingly. I would not use white spirit though as being oil based it would be more likely to dull the plastic covers. Acetone (nail varnish remover) might also work.
I would suggest acetone too,
at least you have an excuse to buy something you really want from the chemist
hair spray works too

Isopropyl Alcohol is the best stuff to use - it’s safe to use on plastics and evaporates totally, so no left behind residue or smell. Safe to use on electronic components too (it’s often used to clean video heads) - and it’s cheap. You can get it at Maplins - check out here to buy it on-line…
try trichloromethane 111 (tipex thinners)
never used it meself so let me know if it shags the cover up
furniture polish works very well
