Hi all, I have recently been seeing a lot of ‘unmarked’ or un sign written trucks coming out of the paper mills at kemsley and aylesford recently with curtain siders and walking floors; are these owner drivers or just rental trucks? If the latter who has the contracts thief now? Is it still Alan Firmin’s?

for my sins
was told it was downtons that had kemsley work, but not been in for a while since smiths took it over from st regis, as for aylesford most of the plain walking floors are owner drivers, they will probably be pulling for the likes of williams, indego, gregory’s, steve walker or c&h,and some might be pulling direct for recycling depots, i know that the subbies we use all have sign written trucks.
D S Smith didn’t take over from St Regis they just renamed the whole group D S Smith,Downtons have not taken over the work, don’t think Downtons do any work out of the mill as i never see them but i only go in on nights so i stand to be corrected.
