i always wanted to go to austria via the brennar pass cuz ive been told the scenary is fantastic wanted to try scandnavia and had a chance with arne yenson of denmark but chose my current job due to family commitments .quite fancied portugal and gibralter.
ive always fancied a go at scandinavia too jonah. right to the top would be great. there was a bloke on rh (barry swarbruck, now passed away) who
d done pakistan overland in the boom years of the early 70s. i
d give that a go too but maybe not in the present climate!!
I’d like to do a bit more to Eastern Europe than I have had the chance to do in the past. I’d also like to go to Finland, I’ve done all the others up there many times, Denmark, Sweden, Norway but so far Finland has eluded me.
I’ve covered most of Europe, but I would like to go to Southern Ireland and the highlands of Scotland having gone to both as a small child on holiday and remembering the stunning countryside…
My favourite regular destination has to be northern Spain, it’s a bit cold now, but the locals are friendly, the food is good and the roads are quiet… Oh and it doesn’t get over run with tourists in the summer
Like JonBoy I have done coaching and covered Eastern Europe and Southern Ireland an awful lot.
I have also done the Brenner Pass and wasn’t that impressed. Did I miss something?
The place I would have loved to have done was the old Middle East runs… when you chat to the boys on them, you realise what a lot of fun was to be had as well as the aggro

no i was`nt impressed with it either, the best pass i have done that is wide enough for an artic is the gottard pass
i also fancy sweden or norway, just returned from a week in the scottish highlands, first time since i was a nipper.forgot how nice it is up there
the kids never found nessie
have to get the map out and see were i fancy next

try western europe first,i dont know anybody in your area as im from leeds, but there are plenty of companys in dover, the distance should
nt be a problem as you are away 2-3 weeks at a time.when you have some experience try futher afield.there are dover companys listed on an earlier thread.
FORFILL YOUR DREAMS
good hunting

Anyone out there ever been on a run to Malta? - either via Marseilles(?) or Italy? Any problems?
I’ve done all the Eastern Bloc, when it was a lot less hassle and a lot safer too.
I’ve also done the rest of Europe, from Greece in the south to Spain in the west, but have never been to Portugal.
Scandinavia, only Sweden & Denmark, would have liked to have done the run up to Happaranda,my old firm used to do that twice a week, with three driver changes on the way!
Brenner Pass? Yes it’s nice scenery, but you soon change your opinion when you are waiting for the Austrian vet at eight ‘o’ clock in the evening and the snow outside is up to the top of your wheels. None of those problems now Austria are in the EU though.
The Ultimate road trip would have to be SINGAPORE overland there is land mass all way just red tape stopping you…!!
or the other one i fancied was catching a ferry from Russia to USA but again red tape

try overland to aussie its been done
I did not get a chance but whilst I was with a unit in sennelager
in Germany, we sent a small convoy of landrovers overland to
Madras in INDIA ,they also passed through AFGANISTIAN , I am
not sure as to the exact route but they also took in Turkey and
did vist the Pudding Club as well . This was about 1970,s-71
and yes I would like to take a trip along those roads as well,
but I have only heard of one firm here in GERMANY that
goes that route , and they always go with about 8-12 lorrys
all from the one company.
I always preferred the old Eastern Bloc and transiting DDR. It could be a challenge to get through without a bribe or a fine.
It is still my favourite but all the modern buildings, advertising hoardings and Mcdonalds have spoiled it.
I believe the locals had a better way of life too although now they are better off financially with the western ways.
My ultimate trip would probably involve an overland trip to Goa
I went to the Moon once, to tip at Tesco, but I missed by booking slot and they refused the load
would love to try russia, has that mysterious feel about it.having said that i know some on here will tell me its a [zb].
