Pistons - where to buy new?

Hi all,

I have a 2005 Iveco Eurocargo with a 6 cylinder tector engine.

The turbo blew taking number 3 & 5 pistons with it.

The bores are damaged, but re-boreable.

The engine does NOT have liners.

I am aiming to buy some oversized pistons for the engine which we can bore to suit.

Is there a supplier that anyone can recommend for the supply of same?

Probably looking at around a +20 thou set of 6 x pistons.

All replies gratefully received.

Thanks.

Richard

I thought these small 7.5t-type engines were regarded as throwaway units when they suffer serious damage. Wouldn’t you just be better ringing round the various spares merchants that advertise in the back of Commercial Motor and see if they have a complete engine? Would seem to be less trouble to me.

Cheers Olog.

It’s in a 15ton truck.

230 BHP assuming about 5.0 engine?

It really depends on future reliability and cost of a secondhand unit.

We can rebore it pretty cheaply in my friends machine shop. He does a lot of engine reboring and rebuild work.

If it’s going to cost a set of big end shells, 6 pistons and an engine gasket set, on top then I’d happily rebuild it.

It could be as broad as it is long £££ wise for an end known quantity.

Anyone used this gang?

Do iveco themselves not supply an oversized piston? I know you can generally get oversized shells from the main stealers but I’m unsure about pistons.

try engine fix uk on ebay

we rebuild a couple of coach engines every month, mahle is generally the supplier of pistons

Thanks everyone. I’ll do a ring round on Monday.

Mahle forged pistons were the piston of choice in a souped up X flow.

Funnily enough, I’m very into fords because I rally a MK1 ■■■■■■ RS2000.

My friend with the machine shop is builds a lovely engine and tuned x-flows and pintos are certainly a specialty of his.

Along with imprezas too and pretty much anything with an engine.

Hence, why I want him to do the lorry engine
