Going from calais to Karlsruhe next week,is it possible to use this road, i think its the 10 from Pirmasens to Landau,or have they put a weight limit on it now.Its been a few years since i last went this way.Was going to come through Lux.

Hi Brian, There wasn’t a weight limit on the B10 the last time I went that way, but that was about 2.5 years ago.
I’m sure you’ll get a more up-to-date answer quite soon though. 
If you can go that way, I’d say it’s ideal for Karlsruhe and there’s cheap go-juice to be had too. 
I am not familiar with the area but I don’t think there’s a “stupid” weight limit. Which road would log trucks and farmers take then? All other roads in the area are of equal or lower standard. Unless somebody would want all 40t going up to A6 and then down the A65…
More over, the B10 appears to be dual-carriageway at places.
I drove on some bundesstrassen in Germany in summer, LOTS of lorries on them, many try to avoid autobahn to save on toll.

I do recall the dual carriageway sections that you’ve mentioned, and I’d agree that the B10 is a good quality road.
The last time i went this way they were doing roadworks to turn some of it to dual carageway,but this was before the Maut came in.I know after the Maut was introduced some of the B roads had weight limits put on the to stop you cutting across,so you had to use the motorway.
Be aware that on this strecht of the road is a NIGHT DRIVEING ban FOR trucks OVER 7.5tn
trying to find the link belive the ban starts at 2200hrs through to 0500hrs but not 100%

I came back this way week before christmas and there were plenty of lorries using it,and parked up in the shell garage.It was snowing and heavily,and having just passed the english coach in the central res,where the driver had heart attack and died,we were taking it quite steady.Hope this helps.
I came along the B10 on Tuesday evening.
There’s a night driving ban from 2200 - 0600.
Even worse though, I parked up at the Standenhof half an hour before the ban started. The resto’ looks shut, as in closed down shut. The petrol station there also closes for the night at 2200.
Thanks for the info,ive parked in the shell garage,not to bad,ill go this way as it should be during the day,in the back of my mind i can recall something about a night ban but was not sure.

Also be aware that the BAG, german police, and Zoll love this strectch
of road as well for their vehicle checks,
