I had some today and they were about 3 ft in dis, welded up in pieces to make nigh on a right angle , they were dropped in half circle wooden cups , nailed to a pallet .
Strapped pallet to truck bed , then put 2 straps over pipe , but blokes said you can’t do them tight as they’ll squash the pipe , so I said put straps on weld ( my thinking was it would be stronger , but it still didn’t feel right to me .
Anyway pulled over to check on route and the straps had loosen I.mo.h.0, so how do you go about strapping thin wall pipe without squashing it , but also so it’s secure ta
Nb I’d stick it inside a taut
The way I see it is that you’re paid to get the load from a to b without it falling off, so strap 'em down nice and tight. If they collapse it’s obvious that they need to be in a crate… innit.
Hard to picture but if the pipes are secured to the pallet and pallet to the bed then for belt and braces I would chuck some rope over using dolly knots.

+1, maybe looping the rope around the pipes rather than just going over the top.
To be fair though the place sending them should’ve supplied some wooden batons to go over the tops of the pipes as well and its these you put your ratchet straps over.
That’s the sort of thing I was getting at. There’s drivers and drivers ain’t there and we’ve all got a tongue in our heads.
