Pipe smoking drivers

I’ve been doing a bit of “semi-proper” driving the past few weekends (Asda to be precise), and one thing I’ve noticed is quite a few truckers these days are smoking pipes as the do their thing up and down the Motorways. Has anyone else noticed this?

ps I don’t have any problem with it, I’m just curious.

A lot of the older tanker drivers smoked pipes because for some strange reason it wasnt classed as smoking  I have seen plant operators working in ICI Wilton with a pipe in their mouth, do that with a cigarette and you would soon be escorted off the premises :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the smell of pipe tobacco, but I cant cope with keeping them lit

at a guess it’s probably more practical than cigarette’s no ash and burning bits of ash to drop down all the time.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: Have you ever seen the front of a pipe smokers cardigan, most of them seem to wear a nice cardi   , it looks like Swiss cheese there are so many holes burnt through it.

Weve got a pipe smoker at our place. After he’s had your motor it stinks for days.
The sooner we get some non smoking motors the better.Still don’t know how we’ll stop the knobs spilling coffee everywhere tho.

I personally look forward to non smoking motors. Nothing against smokers, but we have one driver who to look at and smell her van you would never know she smoked, we have others that i just refuse to drive as it’s like sitting in an ashtray. I used to drive them, but you literally feel like you need a shower afterwards, you smell like it too. Trouble is that the scum bags give everyone a bad name.

Fizzy sugary drinks are worse! What about those animals who leave half eaten burgers on the passenger seat :exclamation:

Although I have to confess to knocking a cup of coffee over today when Hearts scored their second goal.

Worse thing is rolly smokers who love to leave baccy bits all over the steering cowling etc. :unamused:

That irritates me, too…and I’m a roll-up smoker myself. It’s simple enough to sort, I just carry a small paintbrush to clean it out with after every spill.

That said, I’ve just spent 2 HOURS[/i] cleaning my motor out before I could put my kit in for the morning…   …and my paintbrush has vanished along with yet more of the fixtures and fittings from the dash…
The rate the poor old girl’s falling apart, I doubt she’ll last the 6 months until motor-replacement-time…the truck’s not doing much better either…

You will have to try not to be so heavy handed with that paint brush, it is an Iveco after all
