cheers darren

:frowning: i worked there up til monday on hook and drag, got phone call get back asap park up and remove your personnel belongings, receivers are here, all you need at the start of the week, going to see about job today on waste bulkers, fingers crossed

I used to load containers for export there regular, was always a right pain in the arse trying to get on the ramp :imp:

Usually had to reverse in to the yard off the main road as there was never any room to turn round

Feel sorry for the lads that worked there, but I won’t miss the place

 got job start monday, bit further to travel but hey ho,agree with shuttlespanker pig of a place to get into with something big.

Congratulations on the new job, hope it works out for you

 cheers,if it doesnt its always easier to find work when your in work, but im sure it will, just not looking forward to lugging chains front and back when stuck in shi 8te on a landfill.

Very strange; All the waste firms around here seem to be getting busier and bigger. They were featured in Earthmoving magazine last August. It said they’d bought a new Liebherr excavator and loading shovel (over £500k gone there then) and a"possibilty that two more Liebherrs will enter the fleet…"

they were leased, all the previous plant weve had were leased

Were there any warning signs? A drop in work etc?

They allways seemed to be over our way ,no doubt undercutting us to get work :unamused:
Only been in there yard once with a 8 wheel tipper and it was tight enough with that !
Good luck with the new job Cat826, hope the other drivers get fixed up soon …
Hopefully you wont have to venture onto candles landfill too often :unamused:  .

cheers Mike

no drop in work, still taking new contracts on,a few lads were in sat morning, delivering skips and running waste to cory tip at himley, but there has been a strange feeling about the place in the last few wks, turned a job down a couple of wks ago at j moodys on a loading shovel :frowning:,but at least ill hopefully get 5yrs redundancy in a few weeks, not a bad bonus seeing that i have new job.

When you say 5 years redundancy do you mean you have been there 7 years as remember the 1st 2 years don’t count? and I think the current pay out is 375 pounds per year worked so £1875 minus tax as the filthy Gestapo don’t give it away. Stand to be corrected if wrong, anyone else no different?

we had a meeting with the administer and were told 1.5 wks pay if aged over 41 up to 20yrs service and capped at £450 gross pay,and it is your weekly pay before any deductions, and paid tax free up to £30,000,so in my case it equates to 7.5 weeks pay for 5 full yrs just missed out on the 6th year by 4 mths so hopefully a cheque for £3,300 + 6days for last wk,+3 days holiday pay will on the doormat in about 5/6 wks time  but this will be put towards a smaller frugal engined car,as the price of liquid gold aka derv, continues to skyrocket.
