Pilkington glass

This may sound stupid… I know they make glass, but what do they carry in those weird shape trailers? is it glass? Or raw materials for glass?

yes it’s glass, but as far as i know it’s very thick.
probably gets heated up and stretched/rolled.

I believe they’re called stillages??

What these trailers pick up & put down are called stillages, they carry sheet class of varying thicknesses.

Ross.

jessica dad would know this infact i think he made a diary or summits and one of the pictures was the inside of the trailer.

Interesting, I would love to see some pics of the load or how they load/unload.

Stillage forms the base frame of the trailer, drop stillage on ground and pull bare frame forward for unloading.

No cross beam axles on those.

Ah right I knew some part of them was called a stillage! Is there an actual name for this design of trailer then?

I have found the videos of the trailers now, they look amazing! What a great idea!
