Reading the 24 volt kettle thread and the fact that i have an inverter with a toaster.
I bought a pack of “2 giant crumpets” from Iceland today, they were very nice but where I come from they’re called Pikelets.
Who changed the name to Crumpets? I’m obviously of an age to know what “crumpet” is!

Think its also a regional variation as they can be the same thing in the north of England apparently. Although having lived there for most of my life I don’t ever remember the flat ones until recently.
Pretty sure the warberton ones are giant overpriced crumpets not pikelets.

Never mind that. What is the correct nomenclature for a small round dough based comestible which is generally sliced in half and filled with cheese; ham; egg or bacon, or a variety of other fillings?
