Hi all,
I saw a gizmo on the gadget show a while back but can’t find it now. I’m looking for something you can run in your truck which will pick up the free wifi in services from the truck park which you can then connect wired or wirelessly to your mobile phone.
I’ve seen lots of wifi extenders but you need a laptop to set them up. Any help appreciated.

Depending on your phone and phone package, you can either wifi tether or bluetooth connect from your phone to a device like a tablet or laptop in cab I can tell you how to do it. I do it all the time when away for the week

That’s not what he asked.
Sounds to me like he wants to use the services wifi on his phone to save his own data package.
He even states that most wifi extenders need a laptop to set them up - this hints to me that he doesn’t carry a laptop
Fqrouter from Google site . a spare android rooted phone. But in reality unless your close to the building or repeater then that’s all that can be done

Yeah this is what I meant. I know I saw a test on the gadget show where they plugged an extender into a mobile phone and it extended the coverage but I cannot find it.
There was someone who contacted me a while ago asking me to review such a thing on my website but nothing ever came off it. They we’re a couple who travel round Europe in a camper and sell these online to find their travels. I did follow them on twitter I shall see if I can track them down. Wasn’t cheap though, I remember that much

As switchlogic says not cheap but they are popular amongst motorhomers and apparently do work well.
Why would anyone want to use msa wifi or even set foot in such places? Mostly the wifi in public ares is zb in the UK:!:

It’s also unsecured, so anyone with the right equipment could read sensitive data
