Whilst browsing through some old stuff, I came across this picture, and recalled there being a post about haulage yards.
Hope this might be of interest. Might even get this thread going again. There’s got to be more yard views about.
Evening Gentlemen, gb1, now that is a yard that brings back some memories, Hernu Peron, biggish old fleet in its day. Staged picture, shows first of the (disasterous) TR 300 V8s, amongst the older Relax cab Berliets. Comfy old things to drive though, the front grill opened up like a cocktail cabinet twin doors, great access. Hernu Peron got swallowed up by Danzas, mainly for its parcel and groupage side, after losing some gold bars at Orly! Big old court case that was. Typical French yard, lots of lorries, not a lot happening. Cheerio for now.
Anyone got any photos of Henry Longs yard at Northside Road or the original premises in Manningham?
Here´s a small contribution from Sweden to the thread about photos of yards in the 70´s. It´s from the same company as the F89 I drove in the seventies, and here are half of the “fleet” we had at that time. I got the closest F10 to drive in 1979, after the F89 But the other three volvos are F12, so I had the smallest motor… maybe because I was the youngest driver

This was before Poland joined the E.U they brought soap powder for Lever Bros some time some of them stopped in our yard at Newton 3 or 4 weeks waiting for a back load. Just gave them the rubbish skip and always kept the yard tidy. This would happen 2 or 3 times a year in the summer months they would have the wife and kids with them my lad would come down and play with there kids and then eat with them Good Times ■■

Here are a couple of shots. Have a look at the shot of Simon International for a proper old fashioned yard though. It reminds me of everything that brought me into this industry
