all you have to do is resize the image mate. you should be able to do it to any picture you have.
if you cant do it give me a shout andd i will try help you out

doh!! if its any consolation i tried 2 put my pic as avatar and i kept gettin that thing up as well saying to large or watever , and i cant figure it out either !!! and im a bloke !! but i try wat sum1 said earlier bout googling avatar , buy prob wnt be any clearer lol!!!

Images posted as attachments on TN have to be either jpg, gif or png format and as far as I know the same applies to avatars.
The image extension is the last three letters of the file name, for instance a jpg extension would be something like “image_name.jpg”.
What’s the extension of the image you’re trying to post ?

No problem, if the image is on your computer right click on it and from the right click menu select “Properties”, the extension or file type is the part that’s shown in the red oval in the image bellow.
If that doesn’t say .jpg or .gif or . png you will need to change the file type before you can post it here.
If the image is on the internet somewhere post a link to it and we’ll see if we can sort it out for you
