i have been with orange for more years than i can remember and never had a problem. Then about 2 years ago a third party provider got in touch with a 18 month contract which was still through orange but a lot better than orange them selves could provide so i done the deal and there was nether a problem. Then after a year the same said company phoned and said that they could improve the contract further if i was to take out a new 2 year contract and there would be no cost or peniltys for finishing the first one earley so i went ahead. All went well till 3 months after i swapped then i noticed they had taken £200 out of my account i myself and orange have got in touch with them on countless occasions each time they say they will pay the money back into my account but it nether happens. Now the question is this do you get a solicitor involved and send them a letter which will cost money i have never taken anybody to court about money and i am not sure how to go about it but j do not see why they should rob me of £200 or would the cheaper option be take the hit and put it down to experiance even if it goes against the grain
my boss has dumped contract phones and has gave us all pay as you go, he puts £20 on each week but it’s free too call and text the other drivers and the boss, only down part is if you have too call out a breakdown service or tyre fitter it soon eats the credit.
I taken a few to court over the years and i have won and lost some - some i have won but never got the money or the money for the bailifts so be warned it can be a moral victory not a financial one.
My advice is to send then a letter saying that despite previous attempts they haven’t replied and that they have 14 days to resolve the matter if not having consulted a solicitor you will seek redress through the small claims court - fast track division.
This might work - may not so good luck
where are they based?
if they are handy enough, you could knock on the door.
check with companies house to get a directors details.
With Orange especially you will nearly always do very well by speaking to them directly when your contract is due for renewal, and ignore the oh so friendly tele sales chancers who call you.
How to put this…er when the phone gets answered after the multi menu and you get through to renewals, it pays not to bother with anyone who doesn’t have a native, preferably Geordie or North East English accent.
I’ve been with Orange for years, always renew this way, (tell the non Orange con artistes who ring pretending to be from Orange to bugger off) and year upon year they have heaped more and more free minutes or other stuff on me as reward for long term customer…reckon i could speak around 8 hours a day every day of the month and still get nowhere near my current limit…howver i always plum for a useable phone to make calls with, have no interest in a fancy toy type phone so probably am economical enough for them to give me stuff of value to me instead of a fancy phone.
Best of luck getting your dosh back, assuming you don’t get the money pay back might be more satisfying by naming and shaming them as con men on as many suitable forums and sites, especially gadget sites, as you can think of…cost them a bloody sight more than 200 nicker.
thank you all for the replies i think i will do what next drop said and send them a letter.I would just like to say that all through this orange have been a 100 % as i said before i have been with them years and at the end of the contract i will be going back i will add i did try to get them to get near what i was offered but they could not but neither have they ever robbed me of £200.I think i will have to take this as another lessoned learned in life i am not sure weather i am allowed to name the company on here as i do not wont to be kicked of the site as i find it both helpful and interesting all i will say they come from gosport and i never get down that way
I think you can apply on line to take companys to the small claims court which is fairly simple to do. Im with orange and the amount of third party firms that ring me up trying to get my business is unbelievable, always just tell them to do one. Does crack me up the ones that try and pretend they work for orange directly.
orange phoned me up to day to check to see if my money had been paid back by the third party wich of course it had not the kind lady was more annoyed than i was and said leave it with her.I do not now what she said or how she done it but within a half an hour i had a text from the third party saying they had put the money in my account and will be cleared in an hour which it was,All i can say is a big thankyou from the lady from orange and to others learn by my mistake that all though these third party providers might seem a better deal take it from me it is not worth the hassle and stay were you are
Good one, result
