Peugeot Citroen sell shares in Gefco

PSA has announced today it is selling part of its share in GEFCO The inhouse logistics company.

PSA were hoping to raise more than €500m from the sale of shares.

Has anyone got a few quid spare?

Caterpillar has been “considering sale of Cat Logistics” for few months now. I have it they haven’t got many takers…

Just a few years back big companies were buying one another to “expand, strengthen global postition etc”, today they are all selling and “focusing on core business and customer satisfaction”.
No doubt the cycle will repeat; just makes me wonder if these big players actually have a business strategy that goes beyond profit per share metrics

Er, nope. Profit is king

I reckon it’s a great scam. You build up a logistics company that only grows because it carries your own goods, then when you need a few quid you flog off the company.

It has taken from 1948 to get it this far

And how big and profitable would it be if it didn’t have the PSA business ?.

It simply wouldn’t exist. It is wholly owned by the Peugeot Citroen Combine, it has grown because of them, which other vehicle manufacturer has kept their in-house logistics, in house? Fords tried to but then it was subbed out, BL had the Rover Fleet
