Pettyness

not just in this trade 28 years as a railway signalmen and every friday when the rosters for the following week went out the same old faces would be on the phone trying to find out who was getting an extra sunday or rest day in then they would be onto the roster clerk whinging that they should get it as they were senior and it was theyre work funny how they would all disapear when there was a christmas or new years eve night turn to cover no matter how much extra the rate was per hour ! best ones were where they stiched themselves up getting what they thought was a quite sunday in some out of the way box only to find the mainline was shut and they would be running around all shift with the diversions karma

when they ask you and you tell them, if they get the hump just say oh well there you go shame isn’t it,i don’t make the rules, and walk off with a smile, guaranteed to pxxs them off

Swordsy,as has been said, they seem to be everywhere. Cliques, old boys networks, professional moaners, the list is endless. Why give up a good job when the chances are the next place could be the same?. I’m nice to everyone, sometimes through gritted teeth because it makes life more pleasant and i make a point of never poking my nose in. All I worry about is earning enough to keep the wolves from the door. If people are so bored or find me interesting enough to poke their nose in then fine. And like the others have said,nose-poker-inners can make good sport by feeding them duff info and see how long it takes to get back etc

Swordsy:
Why are some people totally obsessed with what others are doing. Whether its what run they have, what time they are finishing, why dont people just concentrate on their own job, and just deal with it. Im about to leave a decent job, all because of two cwunts who are more bothered about what im doing than themselves, and are making it such a toxic working environment id rather up sticks and work elsewhere. The worst thing about almost EVERY workplace, is the people you bloody work with!! Rant over

What? You’re jacking your job in because of them? :open_mouth:
Wtf for, and what if your next job, and your next have these type of pricks, how many jobs are you going to jack exactly.
These are DRIVERS :bulb: what do you expect, it’s the nature of the beast, just tell them to shut the ■■■■ up, mind their own business and get on with worrying about their own jobs instead of worrying about yours…simple.

I know a guy who knows where everybody is at any given time, I just feed him a complete load of bull ■■■■, just to ■■■■ him off, and I love it
I certainly would not jack in my job for him or anybody like him.

Stick at it. You’ve had plenty of good advice. Don’t come on here whinging, drink a bucket of cement and harden up

Most of us have had this sort of ■■■■■■ I know I have and I found it good sport old chap.Give it to 'em.

Some great replies/advice on here… thanks a lot guys…given me some food for thought.

Oi you!

To be fair to the OP, I’d say that different firms in all types of industries have their percentage of tossers, some more than others…
If this firm is rammed solid with tossers and you don’t fit in, then maybe you should consider moving on, but only you know that!
I’ve only been one place where i couldn’t limp out quick enough!
The rest have had a couple of ■■■■■■■■■■ but the majority of people were good and up for a bit of banter…

Best of luck whatever you decide!

your mission - should you choose to accept it - is to wind these two clowns up - tighter than an 8 day clock ( as mentioned by someone further up the page ) . You “will” always have the easy runs ( even if you don’t ) , one drop one collection ( even if you don’t ), you make sure they know that you have the easiest job in the yard ( even if you don’t ) and keep a suger sweet smile on your face at all times .
You will wind them up a treat and one of them will eventually have a meltdown in the office - it might take time (and a little effort ) but the results if you get it right will be hilarious

bald bloke:
We had a bloke like that in my last job he was always asking drivers what and where they were going, if he had a short run he’d moan because “they’ll give me another run when I get back” or if he had a long run it’ll be "bloody hell what am I superman " in other words he’d moan at pretty much everything but he was reasonably well looked after as he had a disabled wife at home so never did nights out or silly long days but he couldn’t see it.

That the chap who had the same ■■■■ easy run and start time everyday normally an 8 hour shift at most (tip Vallence reload Crediton) ?
Maybe had to go round to Tescos and pick up a load of pallets at the most if back early

Just to really wind them up , when they are moaning and say “I have to get to (insert place)” just casually chirp in with “oh that’s an easy run” then slowly walk away before they can kick off.

If it’s that bad just jack, it’s healthier. You could confront them and just say if they’ve got a problem to put it in writing, sign print and date and you’ll send their complaint on to head office. Usually rattle’s ppl

No not him Graham, but a silver haired bloke who I won’t reveal but I’m sure you’d know him. Nice to see you’re still tuning in .

How tf do you make that out exactly? :unamused:
Why should he jack a job that he likes, and maybe go on to a job that he does not, just for the sake of 2 bell ends that can not mind their own business :smiling_imp:
I reckon the ‘healthier’ option would be to tell them to ■■■■ right off, and if they refuse take it further in whatever way appeals.
Do not let the tossers win.

We’re not all bare knuckle prize fighters like yourself pal!

Not meaning to come across like that, but why let somebody basically bully you out of a job.

I agree mate, I was being factious…
I’m not a fighter (I’m a lover ) and have a big mouth! :open_mouth:
Get them to hit you, it’s so much easier!

That’s one way to make friends with them but maybe not the OP’s cup of tea

Think everybody likes a bit of a moan now and again! Some people take it a bit too far though and pretty much everything is a constant moan.
