Many moons ago. I was driving a Bedford 7.5. It was powered by a Vauxhall 3.3 petrol engine from a Vaux Velox, I think. That was 41 years ago though.

I’d of thought it would be ok, but i’ve no idea for sure. But the Landrover Forward Controls must be around 4.5 T, and they have 3.5 Rover V8’s fitted. Look into how they do it ?
You can fit any engine to any vehicle you want. If its petrol it will need to meet the emissions standards for petrol engines of the year of registration of the vehicle - they’re blanket specifications, not per vehicle so it doesn’t matter the truck never came in petrol.
The ministry can still MOT it.

The TJ certainly and I think the TK both being available with the 6 cylinder petrol options anything being better than the 4 cylinder diesel in the TJ.
