Petition For Mandatory British HGV Test To Drive Here

mrginge:
Someone i know from Bulgaria has all the bus and lorry categories yet he wont even move a rigid in our yard. He paid an extra 50 Euro to have those added to his licence.

You sure sound like you have your facts correct right there, except the currency in Bulgaria is Lev or Leva, not Euro :unamused:

Oooooooooooo…
Is it safe for me to be here■■?

Ok, have just read through all your comments…Firstly, I haven"t been in hiding, been out on truck all week, and, to be totally honest, been too shattered each night to go online for anything…Joys of getting old and re-inforced curtains on trailer and bars that i had to get wrench too every time to release and fasten back up…
Ok, not so up my own backside to acknowledge I DON"T KNOW EVERYTHING, I HAVE NOT DIVULGED THE LAWS ON EUROPEAN DRIVING AND…I PROBABLY SHOULD PUT MY BRAIN INTO GEAR BEFORE HITTING THE SUBMIT POST LINK!!!

Nowhere in my post did I insinuate that British Drivers nor British HGV Test are better than any other Drivers or Test…And, NO I"m not racist nor been scorned by a Foreigner, and, I also added at the end of my post a NB that I was not insinuating every foreign driver was on a fake licence!!!

As for starting my post with “I"m a female driver”…Well, tbh I have no idea, maybe a blond mo or maybe cos I"d just commented on the Female Drivers thread and had a wee bee in bonnet about SOME comments on there…It"s probably the reason for my feeling the need to start this thread…It"s fine to slate and take the mick out of us female drivers but to comment on any other type of driver is taboo…

So, in hindsight, I do not regret nor apologise for most of the comments I made, I may have been a tad too keen in wanting a petition, that, after reading your comments, seems the wrong way to go about achieving what I intended, but I still think something needs to be done!!

I have, believe it or not, the intelligence to let conversations and comments made at truck stops etc just go in one ear and out other, I said the things I said from personal experience, being in a company whose eastern european drivers bragged about buying their licences for peanuts in their country and, to which the British Company boss was fully aware and disclosed the fact stating that “They are good workers willing to work any hours and I do not let them straight out on the roads, I have them shunting in the yard for a few weeks before they get to take the trucks out”!!! Oh, and another British Haulage company Boss telling the training guy who does the inductions and driving test before a driver can be employed…“We are so desperate for drivers PASS the foreign drivers even if they fail the driving test”!!!

Look, I might have gone about things the wrong way, but I would still like something done…Maybe there is a way for all HGV Licences to be checked and verified that the holder HAS actually trained and Passed a HGV Exam??

It bugs the heck out of me that illegal, incompetent, unqualified, DANGEROUS drivers are on our roads…I wonder how many of you who have complained about my post would still be complaining if one of your friends or family members were hurt or even killed by one of these drivers?? Or if your sons and daughters paid the few thousand it is to train legitimately and obtain the HGV Licence, to then be unable to get work because someone who has bought their licence on the black market gets the job■■?

I don"t profess to have the answers to resolving these issues so a bit of help wouldn"t go amiss, that is if any of you can see above biatching at me for wanting to do something about our Industry!!!

And Yeah I can take the banter…Gawd I"ve had to swallow it long enough from all you CAVEMEN :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi all.I don’t Think it is feasable to try and change the system now within the EU as so much time has passed.I passed my HGV class 1 in 1972.In 1977 i moved to Holland where i exchanged my UK license for the equivalant Dutch ones.I now live in Sweden where i have done the same again and exchanged my Dutch licenses for Swedish ones. Here i have been driving 25mtr roadtrains on my Dutch licenses without any problems as the system of using foreign licenses is accepted throughout the EU.The systems are in place to check the validity of licenses so it is down to the authorities to enforce this.

Interesting turn of phrase there. Anyhow, you’re just another ■■■■■■ lorry driver with a superiority complex. Be gone with you.

Never done as I"ve been told and not about to start now!!

As for my superiority complex…Never think I"m better than anyone, I f**k up like everyone, humble enough to admit when I"m wrong, always willing to learn and listen to the opinions of others and always up for helping someone out if I can…Oh Yeah, and I lurv being right… :arrow_right: :arrow_right: :arrow_right: :arrow_right:

Never had a problem nobody slated me or taken the mick & yep I am a Driver 1st female 2nd

Wender’s, These foreigners that appear to freely admit that they have a dodgy license are either naive, brave, bloody stupid or all 3, or more likely a 4th option, that is they are on a wind up.
Ask yourself, if you had a dodgy license in a foreign country where fellow workers were potentially hostile to you, would you even whisper it to a mate…let alone freely admit it, or even go as far as to boast to anybody that would listen. :open_mouth: I know I wouldn’t

Also if the haulier was in on this, and/or condoned this scam are you sure that he would openly go along with it, to the point of commiting an offence, and jeopardising his reputation, O license and business…whether short of drivers or not.
Maybe as on here you have displayed a dislike or resentment at your co, and they are winding you up big style.
I have been on one or two scams myself in the past and the more potentially serious and potentially brown stuff hitting ventilator type they were, the more quiet about them I have been :bulb: it’s what I would call common sense, a quality shared by ALL nationalities :bulb:

As far as I know despite all the rumors nobody has been proved to have or been prosecuted for having a fake license, and I would suggest it is a driver crap based urban myth like the bus load of nuns and tipper trailer b/s.

Have you ever read any of the Stobart Driver, Agency driver, Irish drivers, Tipper Driver, Supermarket driver or East European driving threads.

If this is true, I think there are major problem with those companies, not just the drivers and any company operating like probably has many other failings, and shouldn’t be operating.
Maybe this isn’t the place to complain about them and expect something to be done? :open_mouth:

I agree in these days of easily obtained fakes, just looking at a licence isn’t really a sufficient check. Although I don’t know how easy it is for employers to check back with the authorities in other European Countries.

It bugs the hell out of many of us, but it’s not just foreign drivers, plenty of British drivers are pretty shocking and do we know if all them are properly licenced?
You picked on one group in particular, it flawed your argument straight away and seemed to feed into yet another stereotype about a particular group of drivers.
Damage to trucks, must be East European or Agency, Rubbish left in laybys, must be East European. Driving flat out and ignoring all drivers hours regs, must be Irish. Slight scratch on a Stobart truck 5 threads with photos and 10 pages of slagging off them and anybody who drives for them. Female driver asks for assistance, well she obviously can’t do the job or various innuendos about giving her assistance, because as we know every male truck driver has the body of a greek god, just it’s hidden behind all that flab.

That’s why you got the response you got, and you would have got a similar response if you hadn’t told us you were a woman.

:open_mouth:

wow the lady certainly got the conversation going alright, I partly agree with caladoniandream and robroy on some things, but im 67 and I hope I don’t have to take another test, because if I do there will be a real shortage of drivers because everybody my age will pack in. my cpc runs out in 2019 that’s when I finish I hope.one thing I would change is the speed of some of the supermarket lorries, flat out at 52 or 50 there a nightmare to pass on duel motorways       , 56 mph for everybody I say. as far as foreign drivers go, these people that agree with the lady driver, have a go on the continent, try following an Italian through the tunnels back in to Italy when its snowing, yes a bit different to the pennines lol

I don’t think it is Italian drivers who are causing a lot of the problems.If/when you’ve driven on some of the old roads in Yugoslavia and nearly been wiped out by a truck and a coach both side by side overtaking another truck on a blind bend on a single carriageway road you’ll get an idea.If I’d have been driving a truck instead of a car I wouldn’t be here now to tell the story.I don’t think things have changed much either in regard to the suicidal nature of the east euros let alone the Turkish.
