Is it true that once an online petition reaches a certain amount the government has to pay attention to it !!! Surely someone will know how to start off such a petition which may just help our industry get to a better level of facilities and respect, if we can educate the right people then we might get our message across
Parking available in every town/city
More washing facilities
Companies made to give facilities for drivers
TV adverts educating car drivers
And the list goes on!!!
Only the time is now to act
I actually wonder if the real solution is not to expect better MSAs but put them into the truck instead by making them more like mini camper vans. Yep length would have to increase but we could have a shower and kazi in there. Every driver bringing their own casette loo of course.
Mind could be a bugger when tilting the cab…
Reason I suggest it is because I would think it easier to put in place as no MSA chain is likely to spend the needed millions without upping the charges, which of course your average haulier just lurvs paying…
Could you imagine being put on say a 5 year old truck that had more drivers than Stobarts, that had a fitted bog?
Err thanks but no thanks, some tramper’s motors I see now, I would not let my dog sleep in as it is, throw a fitted khazi into the mix, and the [zb] hygiene issues in a truck like that would be unreal.
So thanks but no thanks, and ■■■■■■■■ to MSAs…get facilities sorted out in proper designated …Truckstops, other countries are capable of it.
I did say ‘Every driver bringing their own casette loo of course.’ for the very reason you say even though you didn’t read what I said before jumping in . . .
At my depot they removed the seats in the driver waiting area 18 months ago for COVID!!! They haven’t come back, so now you can stand for hours (3 hours on one day this week) waiting for a unit or a job. Ironically we have signs everywhere for ‘NO SMOKING’, yet the smoking area has over 30 seats, but then I suppose the poor lambs need to take a load off during their extra paid breaks!!!

Can you imagine train drivers or firemen putting up with that …I remember when they loved trucks those that crossed picket lines during strikes …I never did “there are easy ways to skin a cat” …

I did see that mate, I’m assuming by a ‘cassette’ you mean a removable thingy…subject to spillages and certainly subject to a ■■■■ awful and lingering stink…that is why ‘‘I jumped in’’, and I still stand by what I said.

It’s like anything else in this job mate, if drivers are willing to put up with ■■■■ like that without complaint,.(and I don’t mean moaning amongst themselves. as they do but to the right people, ) and flatly refuse to be treated in such a poor way, then you will always be treated like that.
