Anyone know the best route to Petersfield? Will be heading down from the M40. Was thinking of cutting across from the A34, or would it just be easier picking the A3 up from the M25?
I would go A34/M3 interchange at Winnall (Winchester) then the A272.
What time of day
Heading to Petersfield for about 10am.
What is the A272 like, is it a decent road?
If you are paid on a no harsh breaking, using cruise control bonus the 272 isn’t for you. If you enjoy driving rather than sitting on the motorway and steering it is a refreshing break from the norm!
We have a store in petersfield and when we’ve loaded in Oxford we do m40-m25-a3 as the 272 is crap.
You could do M40 to High Wycombe then a404 to m4 then west down the m4 to a329 /A322 to the m3 then a331 and join up with the A31 and then A325 down to meet the A3 just before Petersfield.
This is much quicker than the m25 route at that time of the day
Give the 272 a miss, as said " it’s crap "

*^^^^^ this
I started to write this out then got bored but we do go this way as well and the bridge on a325 is 13’4 I think…
I use the 272 quite a bit from Winchester across as far as Billingshurst or the 283 to Pulborough at 44tonnes usually. Bit up and down and twisty in places but less monotonous than other routes and personallyI enjoy both the drive and the scenery en route.
Nope the bridge on A325 is 13’ 9
Knew it was 13 something.
Just a pity that ppl don’t check…over a course of a year there’s quite a few drivers think there truck will go under resulting in screwing that road up…lol
