Pet hates on the roads

When driving up to Teeside today, The new style warning signs were flashing and warning of an incident and to slow down to 40mph. After passing 3 more signs the same on the A1 one lite up “END” and everyone started to speed up again. Only to fine round the corner 2 police cars and 3 fire engines with lights flashing on the hard shoulder and two lanes.

Using these signs are a good idea for safety etc. But they could at least give the correct information.

Many a time I have been driving in the early hours and the signs are still flashing “que a next junction” from the night before rush hour traffic.

This is one of my major pet hates about the roads, whats yours ■■?

The best one I have had with these signs was driving back from the Staines area one Friday evening on the M25. We reached the Borehamwood area & then saw an overhead sign warning of delays between the past 7 junctions !!!.
I never did work out what use that was to us.

The sign that says ‘FOG.’ I know what fog looks like, I don’t need a sign to tell me what it is. :imp: :smiling_imp: :imp: :smiling_imp: :imp: :smiling_imp:

And that is one of the reasons why most people ignore them.

A pet hate of mine, and has been for a long time is fully explained at the following website:

http://www.middlelanemorons.co.uk/

I guess you can tell the subject from the url!

Yes those sign operators need a good slappin,

Once I heard a story from our recovery operator, they were attending a horsebox with a flat tyre on the front offside,

M6 Northbound (remember this its important)

Highways agency turned up, Said that they would get the signs set back down the motorway to warn people to move over, so he could change the wheel in some safety,

Waited and the traffic did not seem to be moving, he then looked at the signs on the southbound side, and low and behold,

‘Broken down vehicle in lane 1 - MOVE OVER’ :open_mouth:

Highways bloke were very embarrased, and got on the radio to get them put on the right signs, By the time they had done this the wheel had been changed, :sunglasses:

I’ve got a feeling the operators of the signs can’t see any of the CCTV screens to check the motorway for the obstructions etc

i ignore the lot of them and use my eyes instead. the information is more reliable and updated regularly unlike the matrix signs

Ah yes! This is the sign that cannot be read until very close up, due to…err…FOG!!

PEOPLE WHO DONT INDICATE ON ■■■■■■■ ROUNDABOUTS !!!.

It drives me insane, i think they should be removed from society possibly hung but definately NEVER be allowed to drive a car or truck EVER again!!!.

The roads would move just a little bit quicker if everyone knew where they were going.

Another thing that ■■■■■■ me off is lost people who drive at 20mph looking at the signs and pointing at things as they go, BUY A ■■■■■■■ MAP or get out and ask someone dont hold up everyone behind you!!!..

Or the sign displaying ‘FOG’ that can be read some distance away due to said fog having cleared up about 6hrs ago.:unamused:

Cant stand it either but be fair though Jammy & Gardun, its bloody hard work to flick the indicator arm, especially when their hand passes it when turning the steering wheel. Have to move all of an inch… :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

This is one of my major pet hates about the roads, whats yours ■■?

I hate all pets on the road 'coz they make a mess on your paintwork when you splat 'em

Gosh there’s loads of them, the indicating on roundabouts thing, definitely.
The complete lack of accurate information available to us, we have RDS traffic reports, matrix warning signs, CBs and you still spend 1/2 your life trying to 2nd guess things. Also them bloody traffic reports that come on to tell you everythings running ok, what’s that about :imp:
Then, there’s bloody speed limiters, loaded or empty why does it always have to be me who eases off to let folks past, and when I pull out to let someone out of a sliproad, why do they seem to take such great pleasure in accelerating onto the limiter and leave me sat there like a daft ■■■■■ :imp:

And breathe :sunglasses:

All of the above…and those silly buggers that insist on filling that safe gap youve deliberately left as your braking thinking/distance :unamused:

and the ones who don’t leave that distance behind you in the first place.

Had one today on the A47 who did both…sat up my arse, then overtook me and pulled in right in front of me.

■■■■■■■■.

I almost got side swiped in the car twice yesterday on a 2 mile journey.
On both occasions it was due to cars drivers not being capable of keeping their cars in the marked lanes on roundabouts.
And on both roundabouts it’s possible to get two Class 1’s round side by side :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:
WHY CAN YOU GET TWO CLASS 1’S ROUND BUT ONLY ONE CAR

Probably those people who overtake you at 60mph in the 50 zone on the M60 (by the bridge works), pull in front of you, then slow down to 40mph for the speed camera.

Can’t speed cameras be set up to detect people who slow down to 10mph below the limit for them, and issue these people with a fine and three points as well? :imp:

d

Milton Keynes .

Namley the planted up randabouts that you can’t see round, then some bright spark puts a sign, warning you that their have been x no of accidents in x months right in your field of vision . Leaves you sat their thinking “I wonder why.” :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: .
