Perkins V9

I’ve heard of this a few times, and always assumed it was a myth or wind-up,
but flicking through some old magazines before i disposed of them,i found
a small piece aboout this being a trial engine, possibly trialled in a coach.

does anyone know anything about it?

Was it in a Guy?

You’re forgetting that the original Perkins design, taken over when they bought Rolls Royce diesels, was the V1.

It drove it’s inventor, Sir Montague Bletherington-Smythe, completely insane. He was consigned to a rest home and spent the rest of his life trying but failing, to work out the basic flaw in what he had considered to be his lifetime’s masterpiece!
