Periodic cpc quick quezzie

Trawling for a bit of advice from the hardened veterans out there. I`ll be enduring 21hrs of periodic cpc early jan (modules 1A/1B, 2A/2B,3A/3C). Any input as to the best way to do the remainder?

Ive read about ADRs as counting towards it and dont want to waste time/outlay on anything trivial if theres a more beneficial way to use the last 14hrs.

Had grandad rights on 7.5 since the year dot, but only recently got my catC.

Any in-the-know info always gratefully received. Cheers, guys.

There are no specific modules for the periodic dcpc so where did you get that info from?

Thats very disconcerting to hear, ROG. Got an email confirming my booking with East Coast Training (whom I rang to verify) and thats what it states next to course title. Got JAUPT affiliation apparently.

Methinks another phone call tomorrow. Not very happy with this development.

Those are probably the companies own reference numbers for the courses/modules.

I think you’ll find that plenty of training companies have reference numbers for individual courses.

Cheers, tacho - that`s settled my pulse a bit!

Spot on, and this is perfectly normal in the training industry.

Hi ■■■■■■■,

You’ve been given some spot-on advice, so I’ll add a little more…

When you make your phone call, please be aware that there will probably be VAT to add to the tuition fee, but there’s no VAT to be added to ADR exam fees. Please be careful if you’re offered an ‘all inclusive’ price. I’m not commenting on the company you’re considering, but not all ADR training companies make their pricing transparent to those making a private booking.

An ADR course can count towards periodic DCPC hours, but it’s NOT automatic, so there’s another question that you might ask.

Thanks very much for your guidance, Dave.

At least now I can ask all the right questions. What an unholy minefield this DCPC malarkey is!

Completing your CE with the right trainer can gain you 14 hours periodic training. Could have been the same for your CAT C but it’s too late for that one!

Always check before you book. Sadly, as D/Dave has indicated, the training industry has a poor reputation for transparency - or I call it “honesty”.

Or 28 hours each for both trainees if 2 to 1 over 5 days

The whole training game certainly is wide open for exploitation by the less “principled” outfits out there.
Passing first time was a real blessing as it prevented the vultures from having a second feast on my carcass, and at least I can consider it a bit of damage limitation!
It really makes me wish Id discovered this community before I started my journey, but hey ho. Cometh the time for a stab at my CE, Ill be seeking some more of the peerless advice that you fellahs dispense so generously.

Massive respect to you all - thanks again for your feedback, guys - Its a great comfort to know youre only a keyboard away!

But that’s not relevant when the guy has already got 21 hours ADR sorted. Thus the reference to 14 hours.
