I’ve worked on percentage in the past, although granted it was for a friend so that probably made things somewhat different. I had a guaranteed take-home come work or holiday, and beyond that it was a case of “There’s the keys, go and do something with it”. Because I had so much control over work and contracts I knew what the truck earnt before he did, consequently there was never a problem - except for the token monthly arguement over the phone bill, but that was more of a tradition than a genuine problem.
the employer has already told him he will be earning less money.
he told the driver
his boss says its not paying enough to justyfy his current wages.its traction work so the rates aint brilliant anyway.
so there you have it, the boss has already worked out that he will be better off whilst the driver will be worse off.
tell your mate to either get out now or have another look at his contract of employment to see how long his boss has to give him to alter his terms and conditions of employment.
an employer cannot just change the way he pays his employees, they have to go through a process to change any terms of a contract.
