Redline were approached at the British Championship round at Thruxton by RK Marine. They were interested in what we had managed to do with the Volvo truck engine. Redline over the past 3 months have been in negotiations with the Penta main dealer. Volvo Penta are a division of the Volvo group that build marine and industrial engines. RK Marines main mechanic with several years experiance in both trucks and marine, has joined the team of Redline and will be attending all testing and future race events. With his experiance and the technical backup from Penta on a proved race engine, 2006 should be the best season for Redline to date.
Brands Hatch race weekend was being used for the testing of the new engine which was developed for Redline to use in the race truck. Redline had just over 2 weeks to modify the engine to fit the chassis, and re-wire the electronics with the help from RK Marine. Only a few slight modifications were needed to keep to the race regulations.
RK Marine and Redline consider the whole weekend a success for the first time out on the circuit and we have gained plenty of information to develope the engine even further for next season. The problems we have encountered over the weekend, did not stop Redline finishing every race. Scoring our first 8 points in the championship this year.
The Redline team have finished the 2005 race season on a high and are looking forward to working on the new engine over the winter season.
Already, parts are being sourced world wide for the engine and controls to make the unit run to the maximum. The truck has been returned back to Wirral for the winter, where it will be prepared for the 2006 season.
