Pensions.

JeffA:
Stock market pensions are a waste of time - the only pensions worth having are the police ones where the taxpayer pumps all the money into it for them.

What a crock of s h I t e

Try telling a policeman he can have a stock market pension and see what his reaction is.

Must be getting lied to by a large Investment Broker that has multi £BILLIONS invested with them via Joe Public.
My SIPP pension hasn’t TRIPLED+ in value compared to what I’ve invested then!!!

Public sector pensions are NOT to be confused with private sector pensions!!!

A Policeman/woman will know at start of their Police service what their pension will pay out at the end of their 35yrs when they retire.
Taking into account inflation and indexed linked etc.

No just looked at the returns. And a policeman wouldnt work for a stock market pension.

I’ve already said your comparing a public sector pension to a private sector one!!!
The dogs in the street know investing in a pension from a SENSIBLE age in life is one of the most tax efficient things you can do with your savings.

If all goes according to plan I’ll be hanging up the keys in 2yrs time@ 60yrs of age and finger’s crossed will live a fairly comfortable life on my pensions!!!
Already planning the campervan across Europe/Morocco etc etc and maybe few months working the harvests about OZ/NZ then nice extended holiday seeing about the Manor.

I’m undecided yet what way to head first:
Would like to do USA harvest again like I did in 2002 then maybe head over to the OZ or NZ harvests during UK Winter.
(Wifey would then need to be kept happy by coming out for nice holiday about the show for month or two!!!)

Also not sure if go the Euro “touring” first if but campervan or motorhome as Wifey likes her “luxuries” in the touring caravan IE toilet/shower in the MH!!! LOL.
They’re both a bloody FORTUNE to buy atm!!!

The reason they’d refuse a stock market pesion is because they are garbage right?

Not a lot of people will retire at 60 without having rich relatives who left them lots of money.

Go where the…

Weather is best. Even on site with electric and water hooked up, winter ■■■■■. Constantly checking for frozen pipes, waste tanks and water pumps is tedious. Mine had heated grey and fresh tanks, Polar category insulation and twin input power night heaters, it still failed at minus 8.

Yes, they are ALL a fortune.

Choose wisely.

Happy motoring.

Stay off the glue!!! Lol
Do you really think all those pensioners about UK have all retired on public sector/state pensions and NONE of them have made any money on their own private sector pensions invested previously■■?
Or are you just deluded!!!

Wee antidote for you:
I had opted out of “SERPS” and had £3700 in a pension mixed fund admin by UFU.
Had to stop paying into it back in 1992 as diff job meant started a Gov pension.
In 2009 pension regulations changed and I could transfer that £3700 into a new “SIPP” pension.
Bearing in mind I hadn’t invested a SINGLE BROWN PENNY in that private pension it had grown to £17k.
460% growth that cost me diddly squat from 1992.
But you go ahead and continue being deluded that pensions invested WISELY are a waste of time!!!

You sound like the one lucky person in the country. And its likely you made most of those gains decades ago cos the UK stockmarket has been dead for at least ten years - dead as a dodo - returns are pathetic.

I 've never met anyone who retired at 60 on a private pension. Unless they were earning a fortune

Well you keep on slaving away there not bothering about a pension etc.
Then when your looking in the mirror@ 70yrs+ not able to afford to retire on a measly state pension just remember only the one person to blame looking right back at you!!!

Came back to UK up the Eastern side of Spain and home Dec/Jan.
This year they’ve so far went across and did bit of Italy then Greece and got a ferry over to Turkey and currently going right around the coast past 3months+ !!!

Try telling a policeman he can have a stock market pension and see what his reaction is.

Every policeman’s pension is invested in the stock market! The difference is that the employer is responsible if the stock market returns are insufficient to pay the agreed amount of pension. (The employer is also free to cash in any growth in excess of the agreed pension commitments).

Yep - its invested in the stock market and not worth having - thats why police have hundreds of thousands pumped into their pensions by the taxpayer - that makes them worth having
