Pegging out

Its going to happen to all of us - following on from a conversation in the club - when its your time to shuffle off this mortal coil what music do you want played?

For me the ones that define my life

As people turn to make sure I have really gone
I would like

I am not particulary religious but as a Hymn for those that may desire it half way through the service I would like

and as the curtains close

You cheery bundle of fun!

Lee G:
You cheery bundle of fun!

What can I say … not a lot happens in the village

Luckily am in Gosport all next weekend so may see a bit of life

As I’m brought in

As I’m burned/planted

As the mourners leave

As people come in to the chapel. - Those were the days of my life! Freddie Mercury

For the Hymm. - Teenage Kicks. The Undertones

As the coffin starts to move. - Devil Gate Drive! Suzi Quattro

As people leave the Crem. - Young Folks! Peter Bjorn & John.

In to this

During the service

Through the curtain to this

I don’t really give a zb, it’s not like I’m gonna hear it (I hope).

Through the fire for me no religion.

This will be the last time…Rolling Stones.

Ring of Fire…Johnny Cash

Ghost Riders in the Sky…Johnny Cash

I know some of you might be put off by the classical bent here - I love rock, classical, jazz, etc. etc. but for a funeral I can’t see much ā€œpopā€ I’d want. Then, why am I planning my funeral on here - I’m not intending it to be too soon in the future

This one for the start - I’m a trombonist (ex-pro) and I know a few of the guys on this. It is one hell of a sound.

For the main service - ā€œI do, but if you’re listening to this I didn’t!!ā€

For the exit - my father wanted this (and this recording) at his funeral. My mother, brother and I all agreed that we would all be reduced to gibbering wrecks. So it was not played.
I want it.
Go forth in the name of God, Christian Soul.

Does it matter what is played ? you cant hear it. (hopefully)
Funerals are a financial rip off so I’m going to bequeath my corpse to medical science, saves on the cost.

As the crowds stand weeping in a packed out Westminster Abbey, while at the same time a full house of mourners watch the big screen at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane, then I would like this to bring the service to a close.

I went a nieces’ Holy Communion on Sunday and the first hymn was ā€œHow Great Thou Artā€ which was my favourite aunties’ favourite hymn and was played at her funeral. I knew I wouldn’t be able to get the words out so remained stoically quiet. My dear old mum went out too ā€œAmerican Patrolā€ by Glenn Miller which my brother and sister had kept quiet from me but it raised a smile at the time as I got this instant image of her dancing. It still does make me smile and I inherited her love of Glenn Millers’ music.
Got to say goodbye to a friend on the 26th, Shaun who leaves us early at 47. He told us before he shuffled off he wanted a fancy dress affair! It has me wondering what the choice of music will be! Not thought about my personal choices until now but these lads are favourites and have a song for every occasion!
