Etchingham lorry death: Ashford man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving
A driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a generator fell off the back of a lorry and left a woman dead.
The 42-year-old suspect from Ashford was arrested after the incident in the quiet Sussex village of Etchingham at 6.55am today.
The generator is believed to have fallen from the flatbed lorry near a level crossing and hit two pedestrians walking below.

Meanwhile it has been reported that another man had to jump over a wall to escape being hurt, and onlookers performed CPR and first aid on the injured pair until ambulances arrived.
A 40-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 44-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was flown to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he is said to be in a stable condition.
The man from Ashford remains in custody with Sussex Police.
