Hiya lads…just off topic a bit…this old chap has died in Bradford…he,s thought to be from the Buxton area. his surname name
is Brindley.the police have no contacts with or if he has and family…any lads on TN recognize him by a relative or anything…
just thought we might help him…i know there are Brindleys in that area…thanks for your time.

John

Have lived all my life in Bradford (mores the pity nowadays!!!) and have know of Geoff Brindley since I was an apprentice over 40 odd years ago. He was always known as the Monk, because of his appearance. Never without his monk’s habit, sandals and little leather pouch, dressed like this all year round, winter included. He would always say hello, more often than not with a smile on his face. He was rumoured to live on his own in various locations, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield and others. No one can ever remember him on a bus or in anyone’s car, ALWAYS WALKING, despite the weather. Once it was said that he had a spell living in Victoria Cave, above Settle, but never knew if this was an old wives tale■■? That I know of, Geoff would never accept any charity from people in the street, who may have thought him a vagrant, but instead a very proud man and choosing his own life style that suited him and bu__er anyone else!!!

A charming character in Bradford and I for one will be sad not to see him walking the distict

Aden’s N10 in the back ground at Peakstone ,Dales x reg Foden was I think driven by Bill can’t remember his surname but we borrowed his jcb some 25 yrs ago ,the Erf 6 wheeler would be Frank Dales ACW147Y ,blimey I’ve turned in to an anorak .

Yes Dan, I can’t remember Bill’s surname either! Captain Black (Steve Coates) drove it for a while as well before went on the artics, though I think he went working for Dave Wigley carting boulders from Middle Peak to Carsington Water with that Leyland eight legger in between? I assume that he is still working for Dinky and still moaning just as much on channel 12!

The Peak Distric, I drove past Sellers & Kents old depot the other day, I was hopping to get some photos of any wagons that was there but alas there was nothing there, But the old place looked just the same as it did 40 years ago when I bought a Foden from them, Happy days, Regards Larry.

Looks like the garage at Peakstone.First did a deal with them for two Transits in 1969 then a few more Motors.I think Mr Mottershaw was Manager but Geof. Allan was manager after and he went Stevens in Maclesfield but then to Sam Longsons ( Hansons ) He had a brother Terry who owned a builders down Lightfoot Road ( or Lightwood ) Then Stewart ----- ( I seem to remember having a unfortunate death but forgive me if I’m wrong) Last bloke was ■■■■ Lomas nice bloke and I think he became manager and I did quite a few deals with him.
Lomas seems to be a quite a few.I dealt with another one at Duron. Have to be careful who you talk about up there I reckon.

Tony
