Yes Dan I think we can be confident its Halldale,if M.Peak dried up around early afternoon always called to see Doug Ryder in Cawder Weighbridge before parking up and he’d often have a bit of tonnage left, something like a couple of loads to Steetley Concrete at Clay Cross. And here’s one of those many Austin’s D/Stone ran in the 50s and 60s. I think its been on before, sure Hoppo gave me this pic. Mike.

Captain Birds Eye

I don’t remember him with a beard! Suits him, though maybe he could have moved some of it to on top.

If he’d roped & sheeted it properly it wouldn’t have slipped!

Chap in the middle is The late Arthur Tipper of Lupin Farm on the first field they used for the show. Now it covers two big fields and although not as many lorries as you chaps may like.Ask Mr Wakefield it it’s worth a visit

Not been past Tippers ā€˜Pink Palace’ since 2002 Tony, didn’t know that Arthur had passed on either. Do they still have that Commer?

Hello Pete
Arthur died c2002 after I retired.Big send off and he went on the Maxiload that I sold him . Sat on the wall by the house and did the deal TOO CHEAP.They’ve still got the 1945 Commer and running the 1968 Transit and several other old motors including the Ford Pilot and Zodiac. He had to have new cab on the Commer after a bit of a scrape so it’s got the more modern one.Edwin sold the E.R.F. and it will be shown.I think it might have been at the last Lupin Show which I couldn’t get to.Rob Wakefield will tell you.You go to the show in August and you will see a lot of folk you may know.Arthur’s grave is in Kings Bromley Church yard and it has a picture of his Commer on it.Edwin put an oil can on it but I don’t know if that’s still there.Good Chap and friend but a bloody awful customer as he only bought motors about every 50years.By the way T.C.H.towed the Commer from Wales and did the repair.

I put a subject on the Lupin Show on here and you will see some photos of his motors

Thank’s for that Tony, August is a bad month for me as I am usually away at shows. Good to know that Tippers still have an event, there used to be a small vintage show on the triangle at Kings Bromley alongside the A515 but that has long gone.

Pete.

Hey, saw the Pink Punchard on the M6 today, about 12ish, just near Lancaster. Wife and daughter were in the car, I started to say ā€˜Hey, look, there’s…’ then realised they’d think I was mad, so shut up. They were chatting between themselves about weddings and didn’t notice my outburst anyway.

Looked good Dan.

John.
