Peak district

Hi. Does anyone know if the guys in peak district who I imagine mostly serve building trade, have been hit hard by covid. Reason I ask been up there a few times this week and see Weavers yard had a few motors stood at Ashbourne then went Waterswallows at Buxton and Lomas yard almost full of stood motors. If so hope guys getting government help as all other industries jumping on band wagon including acting and sport etc.

Weavers old yard is occupied by my brother now ,one unit is the night shift man ,the rigid lorry driver is off as wife got positive test ,the ERF is a spare unit and the other unit takes customer trailers for test and brings them in for inspection.

Thanks PD. Was curious with that and Lomas yard being rammed if the lock down was to blame. Lomas has dozens in there

It always is rammed but it’s not their only yard but it is the main one so plenty of new lorries waiting and spare trailers ect so they say.

Mind you the Lomas lads who are out and about do get on with it. I suppose that’s with them knowing the roads in peak as opposed to an outsider like me who takes my time "in them there hills "

Will admit sometimes feel like a woosie slowing right down and diving to near side. Once on way to Hope I the early hours on of theirs come past me where I couldn’t believe I dived to near side. Cant believe his rush as he was waiting in queue on weighbridge only just in front of me :open_mouth:

It’s not nice meeting an outsider coming at you over the white line ,it’s rare you find a driver from round here doing it as an outsider .

Hi PD. I can assure you I stay my side. You locals must get to know all the little traps like where hidden thick bits of tree in foliage take mirrors or where the little pull I are on some of the routes where stone walls either side mean 2 lorries cant get through. This week was foggy when I was up there and I didnt realise that the fog can make the down hills very deceptive
