I have read some crap on this website over the years but this takes the top spot, I would rather eat my own eyeballs than pay someone to back a trailer up for me no matter how difficult.
Maybe it’s because some companies don’t alow drivers to take trailers off bay

So, any one brave enough to admit to paying the shunter to back the trailer on the bay for you? rumour has it that the shunter driver charges £25 a week to do this at a depot I am frequenting at the moment, was also told a driver doing my job previously was doing this, you can tell straight away by how they struggle round the back, that they haven’t got a hope in hell of getting on the bays round the front.
Not really a ■■■■ take, but if these drivers struggle to reverse, how bad is their forward driving, worrying, and I know drivers do seek help by asking some one to do the reverse for them as I have been asked to do it for a couple in the past, and have done it for them, but wouldn’t down there.of course he does, have you been in the RDC waiting room today I take it? [emoji38]
Don’t frequent them places, but do witness the shunter driver bringing empty trailers round to the front bays then 5 mins later the driver turns up to hook up to it frequently every night, and even seen other drivers jumping in to put it on because they have no idea.

May be its because the crap drivers are getting embarrassed or frustrated when they cant get the trailer on the bay! And there are plenty here that can’t, this is a place were these same drivers are visiting 5 nights a week, week in week out, not somewhere were they visit maybe once or twice a month, easiest option would be to get the shunter to do it for them, even though it isn’t his job.
I remember when rear steers came to Tesco Harlow drivers used to just dump them for shunter to deal with. Thats employed drivers for you, us agency lads could never do that or we wouldn’t have been back
The closest I’ve ever got to “paying the shunter” would be the shunter shouting “drop it there, I’ll see you in canteen in 10mins…and get the coffees in …2 hat”

To be perfectly honest, I would have probably thought the same, in 27 years driving I would say I would be lucky to see 1 driver a month struggle to reverse onto a bay, maybe a lot longer in between 1, but now witnessing regular drivers, which there are quite a few of them, struggling 5 nights a week, week in week out in this depot
these types of antics can be seen at very frequent intervals through out the night at this depot!!
If I were that Scania driver and I saw someone filming me reversing, knowing I was mucking it up and knowing full well what was going to happen to the footage,id have got out and landed the ■■■■ with the camera on the deck. then id have shoved the phone so far up his arse he would need to press his adams apple to answer it.
What gives anyone the right to film you making a hash of something and then decide its fair game for ridicule by posting it online?
It was a blind side reverse with a hedge and wall at one side and a row of parked trucks in front and another unit on the bay beside him. With a single axle trailer to boot.
Knob with camera needs a good slap imo

+1. The 2hat was stood behind him filming - yet didn’t offer to direct a fellow driver who was obviously struggling. Typical attitude nowadays - don’t help anybody, but ridicule wherever possible. ■■■■■■■■ is all.
If you need to pay someone to put a trailer on a bay then you should probably look for another career
paying the shunter mmmm…well ive had to do it on a few occasions .mostly hauling for a certain huge Canadian supermarket (a few yrs back ) where the main delivery yards were not built for 53ftrs and highway tractors, doable with a single axle city unit and a 48ftr , One of them ,if there was two empty bays together it was a go but the shunters always made sure it never happened…cocky and stupid I tried more than once but no go much to the other drivers amusement who would go straight into the drop yard knowing full well the score.,admit defeat and drop trailer in the drop yard and pay the git ($25).
another time a 16hr,day,13hr drive and then told booking moved back a few hrs(Winnipeg)to 1am ,same company so another $25 for shunter to put on bay /paperwork /and drop behind me in the parking area when empty this was well worth it to get a good sleep. BUT the main thing that ■■■■■■ me right off was same company the shunters would drop the loaded trailers far to low in the drop yard and get paid to lift them up!!! a few times managed to lift them up with lenghts o timber and hard work but like most picking up in the dead off night “pay the Man” usually a wraparound Stetson wearer .
the company I drove for used to haul for this bunch if nothing else was available TF and knew the score …most of the time the money came out of my float so just a note on my paperwork envelope got me it back …BUT to me it was the principle of it!!.
I wonder if any of the other expats know who I am talking about lol… jimmy

Thing is I don’t understand.
Why didn’t he turn it and come in on the near side.
By the looks of it he could have landed a 747 in that yard.

Well yes,no arguments there. Spinning around and reversing from the “right” side would have been much easier and probably saved him from making such a meal of it.
But thats no justification for some ■■■■ filming it and deciding to post it online

After reading your “greedy fat [zb]” thread,I dont think you should even mentioning pudding! Its all temptation, and may actually be the root of your problem!
" need to press his adams apple to answer it " PMSL.
A slightly harder press would end his filming career full stop. Hopefully the driver in question will end up banging ITV mans wife and capturing it on a phone.
I would love to see footage of him showing that to ITV man. The resulting chase around the yard with Benny Hill’s theme tune would be top entertainment.

Given a hand how. I guarantee the person who filmed this probably wouldn’t even be able to get the truck in gear never mind put it on a bay.

Are you agency?
That wasn’t a blindside reverse. That was ■■■■ poor positioning.
He had a whole yard to play with ffs.
