Paye tax

Is it possible to claim some tax relief for a sat nav if you’re paye?

Highly unlikely but even if you could it would only be 20% of the cost and you’d probably have to jump through hoops and fill endless forms it to get it.

I doubt the P87 tax form would be of use either

Just one…P87 Expenses in Employment. I claim for my DCPC, the travel costs getting there and back, washing my agency supplied logo’d uniform, medical, digicard. Sure it isn’t a lot you’re getting back but anything is better in my pocket than theirs.

You would have to satisfy HMRC it was solely for work if they asked ad you’re claiming the full value so a trucking one is more likely to result in less hassle.

Just buy a new TruckNav for around £80 on Ebay and forget about claiming, I have had 3 years out of my one so far…

My WAG is that if you bought it on credit, you could claim tax relief on the interest.

Unless you qualify for the snowflake allowance they will say it’s not required as you can do the job without it

Unlikely and if you’re buying something for a couple of hundred quid on credit you’ve got bigger problems to worry about than trying to get a few quid tax back.

Wasn’t that good a pun. I don’t speak stupid so I don’t even know what WAG is.
