Pay levels Grimsby/Immingham area

I am currently in general haulage doing 60 hours a week for £600 gross. Flat rate no overtime. I think this is poor but would like your opinion in case I am being over optimistic with to regards rates. If there are better paid jobs, where? Thanks

This isn’t going to end well…

Depends who you work for currently.

There’s a couple of firms in Beelsby, I know one is over £11 an hour on General Haulage.

Agencies, Best Connection in Grimsby offer some decent rates, £11 plus, etc. Usually keep you in one place if they can too.

Thanks for your reply but it depresses me. I was hoping for £750 minimum for a 50 hour week. Looks like I’m in the wrong job.

MPs are on about £79k. Rumours out there may be over 650 vacancies nationwide soon.
No qualifications or previous experience necessary.

For that sort of money get on the tankers out of Immingham £750 p/w for 50 hours is easy enough

Right job, wrong area. You need to be in the Midlands triangle to get that money.

About every other month I load tankers out of Conoco Immingham & the pay rates are just as good here as they are at Kingsbury, easy to earn £1000 a week with the right outfit.
Non tanker rates in this area is poor & like Conor says triangle of East mids is best

You could apply to replace the goalkeeper at GTFC. Big salary - 2 hours a week - Productivity dismal- Perfect. Nobody could tell the difference . Not that I am suggesting the o/p is a useless tub of lard or anything ……

I had the same problem, in 2000 I just packed up being a small haulier of 10 years in Norfolk and the work in the area was either very low hourly rate or you work for 20% what the lorry earned. It was like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire, I may as well kept going as a owner driver running bent for myself than running bent for someone else to earn a reasonable living.

So I bit the bullet and started life in the East Midlands and it has worked well, a choice of jobs and a good hourly rate. Been doing agency work for the last 10 years and busy all year round.

So if you want a decent job think about moving. The work wont come to you, be a EE worker and head west if you want a better standard of life.

Rates in the NE Lincs area are a ■■■■ sight better than those in N Lincs. £9.50 is one of the better rates in Scunthorpe.

I earn £950 a week for 68 hours, including 4 nights out. I have to work my arse off to earn it, but Transport don’t rush you, they aren’t on the phone every half hour wanting updates either. If the job gets done everyone’s happy, if not, there’s always tomorrow.

£750 for 50 hours is dreaming in this part of the country…

Like I said Tanker’s out of Immingham is good money I have a mate that lives near Immingham & works on fuel Tanker’s & he pulls in over a grand a week without doing 68 hours & with no nights out.

I have to go into Conoco every few months to keep my loading pass active & speak to various drivers in there it’s a mixed bag but the better operators pay decent money

£9:50 an hour anywhere is just bad

So you’re looking for £15ph for day work?

Or are you saying £750 including any nights out? Which at £25 a night out would drop it to £13ph?

Zest are a good agency and based In Grimsby, when I lived in Hull last year they had me at Heron on £13p/h and from the other jobs I did with them that seemed to be the flat rate for days. It might of changed now but there was a lot of work at Knauf with stobarts

I did some collections at Stalingborougha a few weeks back. Easttrans I think it was. We advertising £40,000 a year

950 for 68 hours and 4 nights out? You can’t be full time employed then. No one pays that sort of money on the books around here.

I pay £860 for a 65hr week 4 nights out. Also includes £25/week attendance bonus.
