AFAIK the green group pay £8/hr, so you’ll get a few bling merchants at that price

Get being merchants at every place it just depends on who pays for the bling

When I worked for Coopers in Rotherham we was subbies pulling out of Maltby, Tickhill, Bawtry and Finningley when it was all Yorkshire Building Supplies doing haulage then Tarmac started doing the haulage themselves.

Yeah they still have some of there own but have taken in outside contractors cos it cheaper

I used to enjoy loading out of Maltby first thing Monday morning because the tidy bird who worked in the office and sorted your paperwork out soon changed my outlook on Monday mornings from one of crap to one of being good
We’re a good set of yard lads there too, used to have a brew and a good crack with them. It’s shut down that now ain’t it?

Bawtry and Finningley are handled by own fleet (Approx 20 units and 30 trailers). Other hauliers mop up the surplus.

Green Group do the transport for Aggregates R Us out of the quarry on Wroot Road.

Maltby shut about 6 years ago I think. Up until I left It was used for storage. They’d generally bag rocksalt up a bawtry through the summer and store it at Maltby ready for winter.

According to the local weekly newspaper Pawsons are advertising an O licence application to add 15 goods vehicles and 15 trailers at their opperating centre at Braithwell. These applications are a regular occurrence.

No doubt the job adverts will follow shortly!

The frequency at which I see these O licence applications for Pawsons is astounding, the majority of which are for 20,30,40 trucks and trailers. IF everyone was successful there would be hundreds of trucks in the yard. On top of the other outfits renting parking space in the yard, I suspect they keep getting knocked back.

the adverts never stop as they seem to be a revolving door employer, saying that they do give new passes a chance at getting some experiance under there belt

Another O licence application has gone in for 15 units / 15 trailers at their base at Braithwell, with the advertisement of the application in the local weekly rag. I can only asume they keep getting knocked back and resubmit slightly reduced applications each time

I’m familiar with Pawsons in Braithwell, and I know there were a few very unhappy people when they went into admin.

I had no idea about pay, but they did respond within hours of me sending them a CV, asking whether I’d be willing to do up to five nights out per week. I got the impression of desperation, and that they’d want a pound of flesh from you.

The Green Group is nearby, and I had to go there once to collect a cheque. The average age of the transport office there seemed to be about 20, they were a very young bunch. Nice fleet of new MANs and Mercs too.

Both are within minutes of my door, and I’d rather pour boiling treacle on my balls than work for either of them

There’s supposed to be a right tidy split arse who works in the offices at Green Group.
