Lee cant tell if they are Mercury’s or Marshall’s in 2 two pic’s you have posted as cant see the rear of the trucks. But the Mercury
would have been a 4 wheeler and the Marshall a 6 wheeler. They did also make a light weight Marshall 8 wheeler,as well as there
well known heavier 8 wheeler the Mammoth Major.

Mercury.
Marshall.

Mammoth Major 8 wheeler.

Just to confuse things even more AEC also offered a heavy duty Mammoth Major 6 wheeler !

,regards Keith .
Thanks for the comments keith, dont seem to have anything scanned on that particular model of Commer apart from one featuring
in a 1955 advert so assume it came out early 50’s.

Glad to hear Ray and Graeham Polley are still about, I think it that that photo was taken in Grove Avenue, Weymouth.

Yes they’re still about, full of chat about the old days, Ray on the left, Graham on the right
Nice to see a pic of your Leyland Bison Lee.
Did you buy that off Polley’s ?
Dieselcowboy:
“kerbut” I don’t know if Hedgeman sold to Barry Crooke but he owns the former Hedgeman yard on Portland which
he rents to Hump and Dump skips as a transfer station.
I don’t know exactly how it was sold off, but im sure a skip hire company (possibly Biffa) were in there 1st, that was back when the helicopter base was still there, not sure if he sold up to Crooks or he just closed down and sold the yard? I’ll have to quiz my mate who worked for him. Butch who worked for him had previously left and started Portland Stone.
Thanks for the comments “Dieselcowboy” I popped some of Portland Plant’s Volvos at the bottom of the last page.
Only had 1 Portland Stone Volvo on here but you never know whats in the next batch of pics.
