Liquid Powders and Gas tanker from Batley

moomooland:
1LPG Transport had it’s company’s headquarters at Batley West Yorkshire and ran around 150 vehicles in the 1980’s.
In April 1984 they took delivery of a 34,250 litre (7,534 gallon) five-compartment stainless-steel tanker complying with UK petroleum regulations, which at the time was the first of its type to operate at 38 tonnes gvw. Built by the Dutch tank manufacturer Hobur it was self supporting and had a tare weight of 6.4 tonnes which ,according Commercial Motor at the time, gave it a potential payload of over 25 tonnes.

LPG Batley also had one of the best Driver Trainers (Tankers) you could wish to meet Mr Alan Walker any of you Tanker lads remember him ? I have a feeling he was a member on here at one time.
Thanks for your comments John !
mushroomman:
You’re dead right there John, Alan Walker from L.P.G. was respected not only as a driver but also as a bloody good classroom instructor.
You might also remember that the Industrial Latex Volvo F88 was probably from their factory on Manchester Road, Heywood in the early seventies.
Regards Steve.

Blimey is that all Bewick.I’d already found out the power of Harvey Wall Bangers, but made with more Vodka instead of orange juice,to strengthen up a Watneys Party Four can by then.

Dieseldog66:
Bickenhill Transport Services was the company set up by Richard Ford and Ware Transport to set up there international work, the 2800 Daf I drove was painted up as Bickenhill Transport Services, which was the same as Richard Ford colours, I did their first run to Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona, the later becoming my regular run for them

I’m deeply offended by that remark.
Although to be fair they should make that disgusting mixture illegal as unfit for human consumption.Look on the bright side it put me off zb Vodka let alone that other foreign muck put with it for life and a convert to decent single malts to go with a decent bitter like anyone else with any sense by the time I’d started work. Not that I’m counting that norvern ditch water as decent bitter you’ll understand.

[/quote Look “CF” if you ever had a “skinfull” of decent Bitter from anywhere North of Brum you’d know about it, well in your case you probably wouldn’t surface for a couple of days !
