1LPG Transport had it’s company’s headquarters at Batley West Yorkshire and ran around 150 vehicles in the 1980’s.
In April 1984 they took delivery of a 34,250 litre (7,534 gallon) five-compartment stainless-steel tanker complying with UK petroleum regulations, which at the time was the first of its type to operate at 38 tonnes gvw. Built by the Dutch tank manufacturer Hobur it was self supporting and had a tare weight of 6.4 tonnes which ,according Commercial Motor at the time, gave it a potential payload of over 25 tonnes.

Thanks for the pic and information Paul, thats a good payload !

Yes, Wynn’s had quite a large tanker division in the 1950’s and 1960’s in particular. Mainly Guy Warriors and Invincibles back then

I grew up with Alan, we were born in Heckmondwike, Alan was a good man and what he didn’t know about the tanker job wasn’t worth knowing.
I once attended one of his hazard courses, we did 3 days at it, everybody passed and as we were leaving…“oh Brian, do you want/need an ADR card”
“that’ll be very nice Alan, thank you very much”
How much today to get an ADR card?? :unamused:

Wynns ERF tanker. Did Wynns run many tankers ■■

Wynns Ross on Wye.jpg
They ran quite a large fleet of tankers of various sizes and shapes from the 1950’s through to the late 1970’s early 80’s.

erf-002.jpgThey even ran this unusual set up which enabled two different products to be carried at the same time.

W & J Riding also had a similar tanker, built by Carmichael of Worcester it was originally part of the BICC fleet where it was pulled by a tilt cab Leyland Beaver below…

When EVC took over the business the tanker was allocated to Riding’s for a nominal fee.

The two tanks were built to enable two different coloured products to be carried at the same time with the plastic granules compounded at Helsby and transported to Wrexham.
The hydraulic motor and the Holmes blower needed to tip and discharge the tanks were driven by a Ford four cylinder diesel engine carried under the tanker.
