Wonder who ran the A reg iveco tractor unit?
Italeri made a 1/24 kit of that called the iveco fiat cowboy complete with the stacks and spoilers, didn’t realise they sold in the UK.
Great concorde info, we were the envy of the world with that, Anglo French engineering doing what the Americans couldn’t do.
Great photos as ever.
Steve
Heres an advert for that Iveco Steve from 1983.
I have not read those articles on Concorde for years but i seem to remember that the USA banned it for a while due to the noise !

The “holes in the side” of the Albion Sugar Foden are handwheel controls for the discharge valves, I believe the hose connections were at the rear. The Sentinel steamer: a friend has one and gives folk rides around his village on New Years Day. I was offered a ride but would be unable to get up into the cab nowadays. He attends a lot of rallies with it and drives it from Doncaster to Lincoln and then down to the Great Dorset Steam Fair and back home, I passed it a couple of years ago on the A34 between Chievely and Didcot. He drives and his wife fires.
Pete.
Thanks for confirming that Pete, bit before my time chap.

Thats a fair old trip down to the Dorset Steam Fair although fair play to him as he has the wife doing the hard work.

We must have had a pic of that on here i would have thought Pete ■■

Good morning, Re the post on Sampsons Colnbrook. I used to deliver steel there back in the seventies and they were steel processor’s not haulage contractors. They were taken over by British Steel and I was still delivering there up until I retired in 2011. I don’t know if the place is still operating but the comments on the noise from Concorde are spot on, it would set car alarms off
Regards Allan
Thanks for your comments Allan.

"robroy"I’d be interested to know who previously owned that L reg A series showmans motor with the sleeper, it looks a tidy professional conversion.
Ex Middle East running motor perhaps?
That A Series has a “WY” Yorkshire West Riding plate, but I’ve no idea who ran it originally.
Thanks for the info Chris.
Kempston:
Great stuff on Concorde Dean, I was lucky enough to do a job for shanks down at Heathrow in one of the BA Concorde hangers, amazing being up close to such an iconic aircraft. Went on board one when I was younger at Duxford, would imagine it’s still there. To think that Concorde was around for close on 50 years ago and we have nothing to replace it with in this day and age is unbelievable really. A backward step?
Yes such a shame that the accident in France finished it off Kempston.
My uncle worked for a company that worked on planes at Hurn airport and when i was a kid we went on Concorde as they were
working on one there.
