CAT isn’t and wasn’t the importer, but is an automotive logistics business, originally established by Renault and subsequently sold on. I once had an interview with them in Dunstable for something or other, in their Renault days and learned quite a bit about them

To quote from their website, groupecat.co.uk/about-cat-uk/

Since 1986, CAT UK have been supplying automotive manufacturers with bespoke finished vehicle, compound management and technical services solutions at sites across the country. Originally established by Renault to provide finished vehicle services in the UK, we are now independent and work with some of the biggest names in automotive.

Meanwhile, HSL (at Marchwood?) was acquired, I think, by Jacobs Holdings, and merged into the large Ontime Automotive group that they were then building, along with Sheertrucks and others

“DEANB” “Cockerdog” Blandford & Webb DAF.

Cracking picture there Dean (thanks Mark S Bailey). That’s one of two Daf 2300’s that were bought by Smith Bros of North Waltham from Morey’s Daf of Southampton. The other one was a a six wheeler bulk blower. Both were painted in Smith’s blue and yellow livery before the B&W take over which is when they were repainted green. This one is actually my dad’s lorry (Smith’s allocated vehicles to single drivers) but, it’s not him driving - it looks to me like the chap that had the other Daf!!! Dad could have been on leave or doing a bit of locum work for All Seasons!! Anyway, I bet the driver’s pee’d off because, that Barham ‘fold flat’ body was a pig of a thing to fold up and down and my guess is, he’s either done a bulk tip before doing the bagged delivery with the flat, or he’s got a bulk job after the bag delivery!!! If it was running on flat work for a day or more they used to drop the tailboard off - it was like towing a parachute!!
B&W ran this vehicle for a good length of time. Once the body got beyond economical repair it was replaced with a flat bed (I have a photo of this somewhere) and I think that, when BOCM took over B&W, they re-bodied it again with a curtain sider.

Thanks for the info “Cockerdog”, its nice that it was your dads old motor. Shame he was not driving it.
