Heaven forbid!! :open_mouth: Joking apart, if the Gilders grafted as hard as the Punchard clan have done (and still do) then there wouldn’t be a lot wrong with them. They know that ‘Manual Labour’ isn’t just the name of a Spanish politician!

Pete.

Could the sedatki be E.E.Witchard from Arlesford, its about the right colour and they did a lot of livestock haulage but noe sure if they were into bulkers, they were farmers as well so mebe possible, Buzzer.

Hi, Dean,
Thanks for the concern but I’m still vertical & breathing! Can’t ask for more at my age. Been a bit busy with allotment duties lately but I do have a glance through every couple of days. I’ll make every attempt to conform to your “Must try harder” instruction.

Always handy still being verical chap !  I dont blame you growing your own vegtables chap. On my walks recently i have
noticed how quickly the crops have been growing but there are no weeds in the field, makes you wonder what we are eating. :unamused:

Mostly pesticides & herbicides, I reckon! Stay safe, chap!

Yes 100% “ROF”. The other thing i have noticed for along time is there are hardly any rabbits about these days when walking in
the countryside. I did see 7 hares the other week which were normally harder to spot than rabbits. Buzzer may know why rabbits
have disappeared ?

Thanks for the comments Pete ! Do you recognise where the Tilcon Foden on page 447 was photographed
as “windrush” was asking ■■ :unamused:

windrush:
The Foden Twin Load was yet another experiment by the company (they were never afraid of trying different things!) but regulations regarding maximum weights/lengths of artics changed just after they were developed so really they were ‘out of date’ before they got going! Harveys of Bristol ran a few, two tank outfits and either a boxvan or curtainsider, and they were regulars running through Reading on their way to London. The tank outfits also went overseas, presumably collecting sherry? The Foden factory had one as well.

Pete.

Thanks for the comments Pete, very intresting and i forgot about Harveys of Bristol ! :unamused:

Morning Dean and Pete Windrush,
Re the Tilcon Foden, I have googled the name of the newsagent and there was a G.R Arnold in Solihull, hope this helps as I do not recognise the location,

Thank’s Pete, could be Solihull as we once did a lot of work around that area before my time behind the wheel. Re the Foden Twin Load, I thought it a good idea (as presumably Fodens did!) but it didn’t take off for some reason? It would be more stable than a wagon and drag, and fewer tyres to wear, and possibly easier to manoeuvre as well? Anyway it ‘died a death’ alas. :unamused:

The Scammell Townsman 3 wheeler of Harveys I used to occasionally see travelling through Reading on the old A4 as well, presumably on its way to London from Bristol? Quite a journey for what was basically a vehicle designed for shunting trailers in rail depots etc and local deliveries, 100+ miles each way! I wonder if the driver became deaf in later life?

Pete.

I think that Adam Jones were from the ‘Black Country’ area Dean?
