The old dalgety Volvo was from the Dumfries mill in Scotland was brand new there I worked there as did my dad I remember when it was brand new and the driver that got it.
Dean mention of Jack Light from Holcomb, my mate went there on a Saturday morning to buy a five year old F88 240. Jack was tinkering with an old motorcycle and my mate got chatting and he took him down on that lift to show him his collection, when asked if they were all insured no came the reply I don’t even know what they are all worth.
While they were looking over the M reg F88 my mate noticed an American Tractor unit stood in the yard and Jack told him he saw it while on holiday and bought it but had to have front brakes put on it to make it legal over here. Also got a feeling he bought one of those Dodge Berreros units new but could be corrected on that one, Buzzer
Look like one of Keith Gornall’s - he was a Riding driver who set up on his own, and used colours very similar to Riding. There is reference to him on Paul’s fantastic Riding website

Lance Biscomb:
Not one of big Kieths I think its Harold Cartmells definately his trailer
Hi Dean,
Lovely pic of this showmans ERF you have kindly posted…they have clearly altered this Marsden or it could by a Vanplan body to suit this ERF…I love how they have cut away part of the luton to keep the bill board above the can visible.
When Ernest Kidd established E. Kidd Transport the work was predominately with local farmers, delivering cattle to markets.
By the end of the 1960’s Kidds were establishing themselves not only in agricultural and milk haulage but also in general haulage.
Throughout the 1970’s business boomed with Kidds quickly outgrowing their Melling site.
They moved operations to a new purpose built site at the old Lancaster Power Station coal yard just off Caton Road in 1978 where new offices and a new workshop were built.

E. Kidd Transport was established more than 60 years ago to provide haulage services for a number of major manufacturers in the Lancaster area.

Still in business today Kidds Transport, as they are now known, run a a modern fleet of Scania trucks,
Thanks for the info and pics Paul. Its nice to see an old company still going after all these years.
Paul has just sent me some more recent ones through and they still seem keen on Scanias.
The T+LT ERF was Tate & Lyle Transport.
If Iam correct they had a depot in Calmore Totton Southampton
May even have been ERF dealers for a short while
Cheers Rich
Hello Rich, you could be right chap i dont know. But the only Tate & Lyle trucks i have ever seen have always had the full name
on them and i have not seen them in that colour scheme or with “distribution” on them ?
Anyone drive one of these with the 350 lump in it. That was some serious power back then so must have gone well. Nearly double
the BHP of the standard 180 gardner.
