A E Evans who I worked for never carried acids like RTS so I don’t know much about Runcorn Transport Services,I think they finished up in the TDG group, had a big fleet at one time.Their original livery was dark green similar to Leather’s Chemicals of Bradford.
I am shocked Chris you dont know about a tanker company !
…Thats a first !

Heres a Leather Chemicals motor !

Hi DEAN
I worked for Thompson Brothers Setchy Kings Lynn no photos about 1985 and Albert Dents Hilgay, We used to call regularly into Machins warehouses Spalding and Holbeach Lincs. Lockwood’s distribution had taken over the contract for Smedleys Little Sutton and Wisbech plants and this had an impact on Machins.
1995 Lockwoods had lost the contract to Applied Distribution who were shareholders in HL Foods who owned Smedleys. Applied distribution had their main contract as Sainsbury distribution Maidstone and Long gone Campbells Kings Lynn. Applied Distribution was bought out by Tibbett and Britain 1998.
A couple of Machins drivers started up their own companies namely Jack Garn, Garns Transport Spalding and Jim Welch of Fowler Welch.
Other companies in the area that are still going strong, Turners, Gee Bee Transport Kings Lynn, Salters Wisbech, Knowles Wisbech, Waymans Sutton Bridge, Bretts Guyhurn and of course Ken Thomas Guyhurn.
Regards Kev
Thanks Kev,great post and pics chap ! I will have a look and see what i have on some of those companies !
