Beresford Transport.

Randomly stumbled on this forum. I’m the grandson of Ken Beresford. He’s still with us and loves talking about the transport days! He still owns the site in Stoke where Beresford Transport operated.

Not sure if any of this is still relevant but if any information is required please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Alex

Thanks for your comments Alex,i will pop some Beresford on over the weekend !

Mention of Forticrete (and I believe they are still in business, they had a place in Harpur Hill near Buxton and got their limestone from Tilcons Ballidon quarry) reminds me of the time that I had to go to their now long gone works at Glenfield to fetch a load of dust back. The weighbridge at Ballidon sent a truck with a recently painted taildoor and tiny flecks of blue paint appeared in the dust when the load was tipped. Of course it was rejected so I collected it and took it to another customer who wasn’t so fussy! At Glenfield they often had several loads a day, only trucks that didn’t carry tarmac were used on that run of course. I think the ‘new’ A46 cuts through where their works were?
Pete.

Thanks for your input Pete ! Looks like Tilcon had a few of those Bedford TM’s as we have had about 4 photos of them now.

Ray Smyth:
Yeoman Volvo F7. Not sure what the name “Forticrete” on the headboard is about ■■

Hi Dean, Happy new year and best wishes for 2019. I think the “Forticrete” name is a
combination of “Fortified” and “Concrete”, They made concrete beams for the building trade.
Regards, Ray.

Cheers Ray.

"kmills"That F10 badge on the door isn’t original though - the early F10’s & 12’s had the plated weight in the badge too - ie 1217 or 1220, and ditto for the F10’s.
The badge didnt have the ‘F’ in it either.
I think that’s what they were like anyway.
Cheers Keith

Morning Keith,
You are right, the F1017 indecated F10 model and as a 4 wheeler it would be a 17 tonner, back end weight so F1017. When parabolic suspention came out quite soon afterwards increasing the dezign weight the 4 wheeler weight would be 20 tonner so F1020. the tooling holes for the badges were the same so the new big badge later would clip in the holes. quick cup of tea.
Sorry lads the Robinson motors i recall but not much else, registration number looks ok for Princes, They had a early Globetrotter and double maned it for a while if I remember it right, was a buisy night last night.
Cheers. Harvey

Thanks for the comments Harvey.

Hi DEAN ,Williams Bros had a small depot at Peterchurch nr Hereford ,with Atkinson units hauling out of the Co op dairy at Llangadog,i can remember thier being a Bedford KM 6 rigid as well
Yes Tim Price Pontypool would haul out of Alphasteels Newport ,think most of the work was in the hands of subbies ,that Maggie is in his colours ,regards Keith

Good info Keith, lot of knowledge on here about all these Welsh companies.

kmills:
Williams Bros took over Clive Prosser in Peterchurch - he had lorries & a garage in Peterchurch - which became a ‘DRG’ plastics factory - at which point Williams Bros moved to a hangar at Madeley Aerodrome, halfway between Peterchurch & Hereford, in about 1973 ish.
Cheers Keith

Cheers Keith for the comments.

Jeff…

Morning all,
I know I live in the sticks and things take time to move forward but what do you all think of our new Police transport ■■?
He caught a 6 year old last week going over 3 mph on the pavement, 2 more now on order. Harvey

Dean that Volvo was never owned by us but Philips who did buy one our old tractor units and like the colour scheme so adopted it, this did not matter as we had moved on to white factory cabs striped but I still like that colour scheme a great deal. As for Philson’s they went big quick did a lot of tomatoes out of the Chichester area and don’t know if they went bang or got took over but are no more as far as I know, Buzzer
