DEANB:
Chris Webb will probably know about Arrow Bulk.

Yes,they were based at Lime Street Hull and taken over by Calor eventually.Nice fleet, some in Oribis livery, some in Doverstrand.
They were formerly known as Easthaugh Brothers. Here’s a photo, not mine,of an A E Evans sliding door AEC MK3,ex Shell, at their yard, steaming tank out,and you can just make out the Easthaugh name on the back of their tanker.Photo was taken in 1968 and a year later I drove the Mammoth Major for a week when I first started…

Nice pic Chris ! What sort of top end could you get out of a Mammoth Major out of intrest ■■
[/quote]
 With a 6-speed box in a MK3 about 45,and about 38 with a 5-speed.Difficult to pin the figures down cos the speedo needles used to fluctuate so much. :grimacing:
I got pulled for speeding in one ont A48 between Cardiff and Swansea, somewhere around Llantwit Major area, loaded for Port Talbot Chemicals and in silent seventh down a nice piece of road.I was told I was doing over 60 mph but the coppers must have felt sorry for me driving the MK3 cos all they did was give me a rayt bollocking and “on yer way”.This was the very wagon,ex Harold Woods with the 11.3 engine and 6-speed box.

L0606p.JPGManchester Tankers Ltd was set up by partners Denis Kay and Norman Walsh in 1962 after operating Manchester Tank Cleaning Company successfully for two years.
At the time there was an ever increasing demand for various tank cleaning including waste oil removal and disposal.
The service grew rapidly in the 1960’s culminating in Manchester Tankers Ltd, Waste Clearance of Warrington and the Manchester Tank Cleaning Company joining forces to provide a dry and liquid waste service in the North West.
Finally all was acquired by The National Freight Corporation in 1974 which later became Ocean Group in 2000.

One of Manchester Tankers early vehicles was this ex Shell Mex Albion Riever six wheeler Reg No 1948 TF.
It was used for hauling various waste materials from companies throughout the North West.

Another of Manchester Tankers early vehicles was this Albion Caledonian Reg No VXD 633.
Purchased second hand from Shell it had a 4000 gallon capacity tank with five compartments and was contracted to Fisons for removal and disposal of liquid waste in the 1960’s.
